  • Lake Oconee Fishing Report - GA

LAKE OCONEE IS FULL, MID 60’S

Bass fishing is good. Over the past couple day the water temperature has drop a couple of degrees. There are still a good number of fish in less than 5 foot of water. Fishing small crank bait like a ¼ ounce Rat L Trap or a number 5 Shad Rap would be a good choice. Fishing a Texas rig worm right on the sea wall will also bring you a few fish. You need to cast right next to the sea wall as these fish are very shallow. There has been a few area of the lake where the shad have starting to spawn so be on the lookout for these area. Put a Zoom Super Fluke on and run the banks and cast this pearl bat right on the bank. Snap it up to the surface and work it back fast and hold on.

Hybrid fishing is fair and there are a large number of fish making the run up the Oconee River. Using live bait or small in line spinner would be your best bet.

Crappie fishing is good. The numbers have picked up very well over the past week. Some of the best areas are Sugar Creek, Sandy Creek, and Rocky Creek. All you need to do is look for the boats. Trolling will be your best bet. Tipped Jiffy Jig with minnow and troll in 3 to 5 foot of water.

Make sure you stop by Sugar Creek Marina and pick up your spoons and all your tackle needs. You can also book your Crappie and striper trips with Reel Time Guide Service at 404 803 0741 or reeltime@bellsouth.net
