  • Kentucky Lake Fishing Report - KY

The fish on Kentucky Lake are in the middle of transition right now. I have caught fish up in the shallows and out on the main river ledges.

The shallow water fish have been on shallow bars, in the pockets near spawning areas and points leading out of spawning areas.

The baits I’ve been catching them on have been wide! From Shallow crank baits like the Lucky Craft 1.5 and 2.5 in shad patterns. ZOOM swim baits in shad patterns, spinner baits and top water baits I’m using, Buzz baits and Gun Fish. If your fishing when its been raining or heavy overcast the top water bite can be good if you’re in the right areas. There’s still male bass guarding fry and this has been a good bite early.

The ledge bite isn’t easy, still a lot of fish in between the spawning flats and the ledges. But I have caught them out on the ledges. It won’t be long till the ledge bite will improve as it keeps getting hotter. I’ve caught them on Lucky Crafts 3.5 XD and 2.5 XD, 3/4ounce jigs and Drop shot using ZOOM’s Z-3 Swamp Crawlers.
