LAKE HARTWELL IS FULL, CLEAR, 80’S


Bass fishing is slow. High water temperatures and boat traffic will make it a tough weekend. Forget everything else and start off with a plastic worm in watermelon green. Fish the rig on a Texas rig or a Carolina rig on rocky points early in the morning. Work these baits in the 12 to 20 foot range. Jack’s Juice garlic can get a few extra bites. Work it slowly on the bottom and hit as many points as possible before the sun works its way over the trees. After the sun arrives, concentrate on shooting or working as many docks as you can that are near deep water. Zoom’s June bug and green worms or small jigs are preferred. About 1 pm go home. Some anglers wait until 6:30 or 6:45pm and target points only with rock and wood with black plastics or any combination of lures like small crank baits and cast them on light line and make long casts.
