LAKE ALLATOONA IS FULL, 80’S, CLEAR
Bass fishing is fair. There is a fair top water bite around shad schools lake wide early. Pop R’s, Zara Spooks will get action but once the sun is up go deep. When the sun is up, use worms in the Zoom gourd green finesse worm on a drop shot rig on a light Weedless Wonder shakey head. On docks and wood use a Zoom green pumpkin finesse worm. Add some extra jack Juice scent to lures all week. The Spy Baits are catching fish too. Cast right on the docks and work baits slowly. Use the Lowrance Structure Scan technology and scan the docks before you fish them. Just look for the dots under the docks. No dots, don’t stop. Up the rivers and creeks and use bream colored Rapala DT 6 crank baits in the pockets. Around the bridges and docks the #5 Shad Rap in the shad and black back is fair but get the baits as close to the structures as possible.

Line side fishing is good. But has slowed way down compared to July. The live bait bite is still the better bite. But bait is dying quick do to the lack of oxygen. So be sure to carry plenty of bait and change it often, frisky bait is the key to putting more fish in the boat. Shad, shiners and bream are all working. But thread fin shad are hard to beat this time of year. These fish are scatter in the water column from anywhere from 14 to 28 feet deep. The thermocline has really taken hold at 20 feet of water this year. The better bite is from Bartow Carver to Clarks Creek. A good starting point is anywhere in eye site of the dam. Trolling is really starting to improve but is best when the COE is generating water, normally it's been in the afternoon. Umbrella rigs pulled 80 to 120 feet behind the boat at 3.1 miles an hour over points and humps will should get you bit.
