LAKE LANIER IS .91 FEET OVER FULL, THE CREEKS ARE STAINED AND THE MAIN LAKE IS CLEAR THE RIVERS AND UP LAKE COVES ARE STAINED. 80’S DEGREES.

Hey gang it’s great to be back from vacation and back on Lanier. Things are really changing now with all the recent rain and much more to come as of the current forecast. The lake is rising and currently sits at .9 feet over full pool with surface temps around 85 degrees. I am sure we are in for some stained to muddy water conditions in the creeks and rivers with all the precipitation. The bite since my return on Monday of this week has been interesting. We have had some very good periods of activity, along with some much slower periods as well. Best overall for us this week has been the drop shot. We have been drop fishing fruity worms as well as other Robo worm selections in the 30 foot range on humps and points for the best results. We have had some big fish as well during this period make sure to follow me at Jimbo On Lanier on FB for all the latest results and pictures. The Spybait bite has been on and off for us, but remains viable as always. If you see the fish suspended up in the water column, the Spy Bait should be the ticket. We also still running some bait trips we have been able to find the spot tails at times, and we are also having success with the large minnows from Hammonds as well. Please get with me soon if you would like a trip this summer. Following is a list of my upcoming open dates August: 7, 8, 13, 14, 15, 16, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 28, 29, 30, 31 This is a great time to take the kids on a Spot tail trip or learn to fish deep water summer patterns. Give me a call NOW and book your summer trip.

Striper fishing is fair. The stripers went nocturnal with the full moon and bright blue skies. This changed the bite to the first hour of the morning. We finally got some clouds and rain only to find that the fish had moved; again. The lead core bite had disappeared, and the fish moved from the lake and creek channels. The bottom line is the fish are probably not where they were yesterday, and you will need to spend considerable time searching. Your best bet is focus on bays and ditches off the creek and river channels from Browns Bridge to the Dam. If you mark two or three fish stop and deploy down rods with herring. We have also had some reports of some anglers using medium shiners with 14 foot of 10 pound test leaders. You may want to try both baits and see which one the stripers prefer. Check the channels for suspended fish at 30 to 50 feet and if you find them deploy your umbrella rigs or lead core line. Set the umbrella rigs 120 to 140 feet back and troll at a speed of 2.8 to 3.4 MPH. Set the Lead core line at 8 to 9 colors and a speed of 2.8 to 3.5 MPH. The water temperature is in mid 80’s. The water is stained in the backs of the creeks and lightly stained on the main lake. The lake is 1.0 foot above full pool.
