LAKE ALLATOONA IS DOWN 1.35 FEET, 80’S AND CLEAR

Bass fishing is fair. The shad are on the surface at the mouths of most creeks and the main lake and the spots are busting them off the top. Some schools are more finicky than others. The bait are no longer than an inch at the most. Start off throwing a pointer 78 in American Shad color and if that does it get them excited throw a small white Rooster Tail when they come to the surface. At a last resort throw a drop shot rig tipped with a 3.5 inch Yamamoto Cattail worm in blue pearl color with a 3 foot tag line into the area where you see the most action on the surface. The fish are suspending heavily under these schools of shad and they are on the bottom so keep that in mind in figuring them out. Most of the schooling fish are in small. It takes some coaxing on some of the schools but they can be caught with some persistence. Also a lot of action going on in the very backs of creeks and rivers. Take a BDS 3 (Lucky Craft) in Ghost Minnow color and throw it in and around the wood cover. The water is a couple of degrees color back there and also a lot of schools of shad are present in the backs of the creeks as well. Your bigger fish and even an occasional kicker can be caught in these areas right now.

Line side fishing is fair. The fish are easy to find on your Lowrance but getting them to bite is another story. Just keep putting the bait right on their nose and wait. Mid lake still seems to be holding most of the fish. But don't overlook the pass. We have marked a lot of fish in there this week and they just don't want bite. We are marking some big schools in the Allatoona Creek arm. Out over open water at Stamp Creek. And a few more from Galts to Kellogg’s Creek. The fish are on the move so you should be as well. We look for this pattern to hold up into October. You must be versatile this time of year. The top water bite has been hit or miss... But keep a Jr. Spook ready just in case they pop up. The south end of the lake has been best for top water action the best place right now. The south end of the lake has been best for top water action the best place right now. Trolling may be the best all round bite going right now. Umbrella rigs in all white seem to be the ticket for the Trollers right now.
