  • Richland Chambers Fishing Report - TX

    Fishing Friends,

Seems that almost every year around this time, the White Bass fishing gets a little tough and the fish are difficult to find and catch. I call it a "Transition Period" that happens between the Summer and Fall as temperatures change, rainfall sometimes occurs and we leave the old hot Summer behind and get ready for some absolutely great Fall Fishing! This past week was a good example as we had milder temps and some heavy rainfall for several days. I fished four days during this period and caught Catfish on all of them and even did a little Crappie fishing. The Crappie were not near as aggressive as the Catfish and we ended up with a nice box of Channel Cats & a handful of Crappie on the outings! We decided to forego any White Bass fishing and concentrate on what was biting!

We caught the Crappie over Brush Piles and in standing timber on small minnows. Most fish were caught in the 15'-20' water depth and bit so lightly that many of my Customers didn't realize they had a bite. That's Crappie fishing as some days they bite and almost hook themselves and on other days only the seasoned Crappie fisherman can catch them.

The Catfish were in the same areas as the Crappie on a couple of trips. I scattered some sour maize to attract the fish and then used the always dependable Danny Kings Punch Bait on a # 4 Treble Hook to catch the fish. The Catfishing will only get better and better over the next few months with the Winter fishing actually being the best of the year as the Channel and Blue Cats get bigger and easier to catch! Locate a drop off near the timber portion of the Creek Channels and bait a spot! It won't be long till you have a great "Catfish Hole"! 😊

If any of this sounds appealing to you, give us a call and Let's Go Fishin'!
