  • Lake Allatoona Fishing Report - GA

LAKE ALLATOONA IS DOWN 9.56 FEET, 50S, STAINED

Bass fishing is good. The weather has got the fish feeding. The bass have been on two distinct patterns, shallow and deep. The shallow fish have been on main lake points in around 5 to 15 feet of water. The best points and shorelines seem to be clay or scattered small rock. Work these areas with slow moving baits such a Texas rig or a shaky head. My go to right now is a black Zoom finesse worm rigged on a spot remover head. I use this in the stained water because it stands out. The deep water pattern has revolved around bait. Look for big schools of bait in 30 to 40 feet of water in creek mouths near the main river channel. Once you find the bait scan around on your electronics to find the bass in the area around ambush points like points, rocks, trees or channel edges. The baits of choice for these fish where speed shad rigged on either a jig head or an under spin. Also the drop shot worked well. Good luck on the water.

Line side fishing is very good. The fish are on the move and can be caught anywhere from Little River to Iron Hill. The water temperature is in the low fifty's and warms the closer you get to the dam. Our better bite has been mid lake from Stamp Creek to Kellogg's Creek out over the river channel. We start out my day putting out a full spread, planner boards, free lines and down lines mid way back in the Creeks. After 9am we switch to all down lines and after 10 am we pull umbrella rigs out of the river channel. Be sure to rely on the Lowrance Structure Scan technology to scan a lot of water looking for bait schools. Trolling has been my best bite for numbers. Our bigger fish are coming on live bait like shad, threadfins, shiners and trout. This is usually the time of year we put my cast net up and fish exclusively store bought bait (Striper Soup and Dugout Bait and Tackle) and umbrella rigs. Over all I think this is the best fall bite we have had in years. We look for this pattern to hold on through Christmas and until the middle of January. Remember Christmas is right around the corner and First Bite Gift Certificates make great gifts. 770 827 6282
