LAKE HARTWELL IS DOWN .31 FEET, CLEAR, 50S


Bass fishing is fair. The water is cold and there are not many anglers out this month. So spend the day on the long points that feed to either river. Mid lake and up is better with some stained water. Find some shad on the Lowrance and drop a spoon or a drop shot on the fish. Do not overwork the baits as this cold waters slow their movements. If a normal presentation is not producing, try dead sticking a jerk bait. Allow it to sit motionless for 10 to 20 seconds before moving slightly. Open water structure fishing has gotten tougher, but bass can still be caught around some points and ledges, especially up both rivers. On shaky heads, use the green pumpkin Strike King Perfect Plastic finesse worms. If you fish docks, be sure they are on or very close to 30 feet of water. Target creek bends and drops and also road beds. The fish are biting you may just have to run around some to find them.
