  • Savannah Fishing Report - GA

While trolling for less than two hours the team successfully caught, fought, and released over 40 top water fish! What was biting? Spanish mackerel, juvenile king mackerel, Bonita, little tunny, and blue fish! Most fish were caught on 0 and 00 Clark spoons. However, Captain Kathy Brown of Miss Judy Charters did pull a couple of rigged ballyhoo! Yep this rig caught the attentions of some bigger fish. This just goes you show you once again the bigger the bait the bigger the bite!

Captain Kathy Brown, Tom Abell Montgomery, Alabama, and Alli DeYoung are all sporting big trophy red fish catching smiles! Where did we catch this big trophy red fish? In Wassaw Sound! What were we using as bait? Whiting steak! What were the conditions? The winds were howling and the tide was ripping, but Tom still did this catching job proud!

    Inshore Fishing Report

Well, it is time to use my father’s old time saying, “When it’s 65 everything is alive!” What does this mean to us inshore fishermen? When the water temperatures are a stable 65 degrees meaning not teetering and tottering all fish have been woken up. What does this mean? “Possible bites have just been turned up a notch!” Not only bites, but I have been seeing lots of surface bait in the creeks, rivers, and sounds! So therefore when departing I suggest that you always have your cast net onboard!

Why? There is now a wealth of bait to be caught!

Captain Kathy Brown of Miss Judy Charters just plain showing off!

    Sound Report
I would like to report that the whiting bite is strong very strong! We have been catching lots of whiting while using some pieces of small shrimp as bait. My favorite rig to use is the old school a Carolina style. As far as hook style a small Kahle, small thin tinned circles, and small “J” hooks will get the catching job done. We are using small rod/reels set ups with 10 to 20 pound test main line. I am using mostly monofilament main line, but braided will also work. The bottom line is this...just about any set up you have with work. However, the smaller the outfit the better the bite and the fight!

For those that are looking for a little bigger line stretcher we are now catching small nice bonnet head, spinners, black tips, and trophy red fish! Before heading out I suggest picking up a copy 2019 Georgia Sport Fishing regulation booklet. It is full of interesting information and simple list with explanations on what you can legally keep or not!
I have seen quite a few Spanish mackerel in the sound ..and to confirm my already sightings We caught quite a few while plain old bottom fishing with small pieces of shrimp.

While offshore fishing with Captain Judy on Miss Judy Too Jacob Childers Kingston, Ga caught what is better known as a black sea bass double header. Jacob had a secret weapon threaded on to one of his hooks and it’s called Electron Fish Attractor. I am only using one electron per two hook bottom rig. Why? That’s all you need to get those fish to your hook! But if you want to really go crazy give two Electrons a try! I found that two is too many and one is the perfect combination! Now what do I mean by too many? You can figure that out on your own! Where do you get them? www.lifesparkfishingtackle.com Why? I will answer this with a question..When you fish don’t you want your best chances at catching fish? I rest my case! Don’t you think it’s time to order some today?

    Offshore Artificial Reefs

All artificial reefs in this area SAV, DUA, KC, CCA, L, and J Buoy are holding the attentions of top water fish. We have been catching Spanish/king mackerel, Bonita, blue fish, and little tunny!

The bottom fishing at the reefs located in more than 50 feet of water has really picked up. We have been catching black sea bass (still catch/release 10 to keep 1) white bone porgy, flounder, ring tail perch, pig fish, almaco jack, and blue fish. And we caught some nice Spanish mackerel while bottom fishing for whiting...once again you really never know what you might catch when you drop your hook!

While offshore fishing with Captain Ryan Howard and first mate John Fanning better known a “Hammer Head” The Joseph Walsh Fishing Team had a grand catching day at the Savannah Snapper Banks!

Gaff is ready and so is the person holding it! Mahi Mahi is not!

Blue Waters of the Gulf Stream!

Yep, you should have already gotten the boat, the tackle, and the trolling baits ready! Why? Any Day Now! Your boat or mine! Yes my dear fishing friends the bite is on!! It is time to go!

While inshore fishing with Captain Garrett Ross of Miss Judy Charters Juan Cordova West Palm caught this nice spotted sea trout! What was he using as bait? Live shrimp under a small traditional adjustable float!

While inshore fishing with Captain Garrett Ross of Miss Judy Charters Brandon Cooper Savannah Georgia had a catch blast! Here’s a picture of one of the many spotted sea trout that Brandon caught!

While inshore fishing with Captain Garrett Ross of Miss Judy Charters Friday

Breyana Wright West Palm caught this nice spotted sea trout. According to her fishing crew she caught the first, the most, and the biggest fish for the day! Congratulations Breyana!

Captain Garrett Ross of Miss Judy Charters Brandon Cooper Savannah his sister Breyana Wright and Juan Cordova (Breyana’s friend both from West Palm) is showing off they catch! This is what they kept not what they caught! This fishing three did quite a bit of catch and release! However, they are still having some fine fish for dinner tonight!

While inshore fishing with Captain Garrett Ross of Miss Judy Charters Bruce Shingleton and his son Rob age 17 Augusta, Georgia caught this fine mess of fish! What’s a mess of fish? Red fish, spotted sea trout, and whiting! And then there were those fish that were caught fought and released!

While inshore fishing with Captain Garrett Ross of Miss Judy Charters Bruce Shingleton Augusta, Georgia caught this nice red fish!

Captain Keith and the Bachelors Fishing Team from North Carolina! Yep! I took this team bottom bumping and they did great! It was a little rough, took longer to get the fishing grounds, but once we arrived they all worked hard at catching fish! While using small pieces of cut squid the fish above laid out on cooler fell for our feeding illusion! And what happen? They got the hook! What did they catch? White bone porgy, black sea bass, blue fish, ocean perch also known as ring tail perch and sometimes we call them the grand makings for a fine McDonald’s sandwiches, almaco jack, and a nice flounder!

Mike Degofford Denver, NC is showing us a big flounder catching smile! Captain Kathy Brown of Miss Judy Charters is assisting! I am always suggesting that a dip net is a must when fishing inshore or offshore. Before Captain Kathy could get the dip net completely under the flounder it actually swam off the hook prompting her to make a very quick reaching move! The bottom line is Mike is eating flounder this afternoon at Flying Fish Bar and Grill!
