LAKE HARTWELL IS FULL, CLEAR DOWN STAINED UP RIVERS, 80S


Bass fishing is fair. With the hot weather and lack of rain the lake is getting very low oxygen levels, the fish are getting lazy and soft plastics are best. Slow roll a 1/2 ounce spinner bait in chartreuse and white with silver double willow blades. Afternoons go or a Carolina rig with a Zoom big dead ringer in June bug. Mid to up lake bass will bite a 3/8 ounce Stanley jig with a Zoom chunk in pumpkin seed. Shad Rap crank baits are producing some fish. Target ledges that have 8 feet of water or more on top. The spotted bass have moved to points, humps and the old river channels. Use a Shad Rap crank bait in the shad color. Try some P Line 8 pound test fluorocarbon line on a spinning reel to get these baits deeper.


This is when the Lowrance Structure Scan technology can do. Ride in front of the docks and stay out 80 feet. Set the Range to 80 feet and look for the brush and the fish will show up as small dots.
