Fishing Friends,
Summertime is the time to catch White Bass and Hybrid Stripers on the 309 Flats at Lake Richland Chambers! While it's not a guarantee, you can usually count on some early morning top water Schooling Activity on the Flats and on some days it can last ALL Morning! The prevailing South Wind we have this time of year pushes the small organisims the Shad feed on into this area and the Whites and Hybrids follow the Shad. If you get lucky and fish on a day with a 5-10 MPH South Breeze and have some Cloud Cover, there's no better conditions you can ask for! The fish love it and you may find literally acres of fish feeding on the surface!
Best baits to use are normally small silver or clear baits like a Tiny Torpedo or a Rat-L-Trap. However, you can also use Lil' Georges or Inline Spinner baits that can be ripped across the surface or allowed to sink to the bottom and retrieved slowly. It kind of depends on what depth the fish are in as they can be as shallow as 2' or as deep as 30' . When the fish are aggressively feeding, you can catch them on almost anything! 😊
This type of action doesn't occur all year but it's the most exciting of all the types of ways to catch White Bass. The action is great for new or seasoned fishermen and never gets old! Kids (and Adults who think like Kids) absolutely love it as it's so visual. If this sounds like something you want to try, give us a call or check us out on our website at www.gonefishin.biz .
Have a Great Day!
