  • Fall Florida Fishing in Sarasota

Contrary to popular belief, the seasons do arrive in Florida. The changes are subtle; the sun angle changes, the days shorten, and it cools off a tad. These all combine to get fishing moving around and feeding!

Anglers visiting Florida have a wide variety of fishing options. Here in Sarasota, the best bite for anglers seeking action and variety is to drift the deep grass flats. Speckled trout, Spanish mackerel, bluefish, jack crevalle, ladyfish, cobia, sharks, pompano, and other species will hit a jig or live bait.

Anglers seeking more of a challenge can cast plugs and jigs along the mangrove shorelines in search of the mighty snook. This is great fun and something that I do on Siesta Key fishing charters with skilled anglers. Rapala X-Raps are the top lure.

Fishing in the inshore Gulf of Mexico is amazing when conditions are right. East winds will have the Gulf waters smooth and clear. Bait fish will be thick, and this will attract the larger game fish. King Mackerel, Spanish mackerel, false albacore, and more will be landed.
