  • Pickwick Lake Fishing Report - TN

Its been a good top water bite on Pickwick Lake, I’ve caught them on a Lucky Craft Sammy and a Gun Fish 115 in shad patterns. I have seen a lot of shad shallow and the bass have been right there with them. They have been in the back of some pockets and on rocky bars! Seems like when you find them there’s been a school of them.

There is some really good grass mats and I really think that in the next couple weeks its going to really turn on. All we need now is some cooler weather to cool the shallows and the bass will move into the mats and then the frog bite will start. Its just been to warm to get the bass to move shallow and stay. All they are doing is using the grass mats as a wall to push the bait up agaist.

I have also caught them on a ZOOM’s 5 inch Swimmer, Swim bait and a Rattlin Bait, like the LV500. Seems like some days they just wont chase the top water. So, I have to catch them on other baits.

A chatter bait has been effective also. But it seems like it has to be windy or cloudy to get the chatter bait to work. I’m still seeing fish outside the grass lines in 8 to 14 feet deep. I hope that these tips will help you find some fish and if your looking for a guide please contact me at
