Fishing Friends,


Last week, I had three Fishermen (2 Brothers and their Brother In Law) join me for three days of fishing on Richland Chambers. The Brother from Dallas hosted the others who were from the St. Louis area and they all stayed at a friends home at the Lake. The guys were all very experienced fishermen and asked that we try for a variety of fish during the three mornings that we fished. The weather cooperated even though it was still a bit warm each day by late morning. We had a nice breeze most of the time and the good news is that the guys went home with lots of fish filets for them and their friends!


On Tuesday morning we fished for Crappie and then White Bass and had just a fair trip as the bite was slow and we had to do a lot of hunting to find the fish. We ended the morning catching our fish on minnows over brush piles and with enough fish for a fish fry. Wednesday morning was a bit windy and cloudy so we headed to the 309 Flats to try and find some White Bass. We didn't find a lot of Whites but we did get into the Hybrid Stripers and the guys had a ball as we had lots of action on smaller Hybrids and managed to catch five Keeper Hybrids in the 5 lb. to 7 lb. range. (See Pic) On Thursday we headed up the Richland Creek and slaughtered the Catfish as the fishermen caught their 75 fish limit of Blue and Channel Catfish and once again had an AWESOME trip!


As we begin the Fall Season, we'll be fishing for Catfish most of our trips. However, if conditions are good the other species (Whites, Hybrids and Crappie) will sometimes be easy to catch.
