  • Richland Chambers Fishing Report - TX

It's that time of year when we schedule just a few trips each week and then hope for Mother Nature to give us a good day to fish! This past week was one of those type weeks as I had three trips scheduled and we were only able to get one of those in as we dealt with Cold Fronts, some much needed Rain, some Fog and the ever present Winds on Richland Chambers. Adam and I always err on the side of SAFETY and if the weather won't allow a Safe and Fun Trip for our Customers, we cancel and hope the Customer can reschedule for a better day! As a reminder, we offer trips on everyday except Sunday as we keep this day for Church, Family and in the really busy months, a much needed day of Rest.

Wintertime fishing can be very rewarding as the Catfish are very aggressive and there's always the chance to catch a really BIG BLUE CAT along with an ice chest full of 1 lb. to 3 lb. Blues and Channels. We will be on this type bite through the entire Winter and into early Spring. The timber along the Richland Creek Arm of the Lake near Crab Creek continues to be our "Go To" spot for lots of Catfish. Danny Kings Punch Bait on a #4 treble hook fished near the bottom in 25' feet of water is how we're catching the majority of the fish.

We're also catching some White Bass and Hybrid Stripers in the past couple of weeks. Best locations have been the Pelican Island and Windsock Point areas and we're fishing in 25' to 35' feet of water with 1 oz. Silver Slabs. Most fish are near the bottom and you'll need to barely move the Slab as the fish are not aggressive at all. The pattern of "Deadsticking" is used when the water temp is cold as it is now and literally holding the Slab motionless is often the key to catching!

If finding, catching and eating some tasty Catfish or White Bass this Winter is of interest to you, give us a call and Let's Go Fishin'! We have lots of Weekdays and even a few upcoming Saturdays with a boat available. Check us out on our Website at www.gonefishin.biz and call at 903-389-4117.

Thanks and hope to see you soon!
