I considered myself lucky last week as I got all my trips in except for the one scheduled for today when my Customers and I decided not to test the Weatherman! It was a great week of CATCHING as the White Bass were very cooperative and we had easy limits of quality fish every outing. The Whites and an occasional Hybrid Striper are on their typical Springtime bite and can be caught early AM on shallow water windblown Points and then later AM on Main Lake Humps and Dropoffs.
Best locations to find the White Bass and Hybrid Stripers are the 309 Flats, Pelican Island and Main Lake Points. The early shallow water fish can be caught on Rat-L-Traps and Cohos and are often the biggest fish you'll catch all day! However we are still catching the majority of our fish on 1 oz. RSR Silver Slabs with a small Jig Teaser tied about a foot above the Jig. Water depths where we find our fish vary from day to day, but the key is finding structural changes (Humps, Points, Roadbeds, etc.) where the baitfish are located. Watch for the Gulls and Terns diving on bait and you'll find feeding fish!
Looking ahead, I'm booked ALL OF MAY AND MOST OF JUNE. If you're wanting a June date, I'd recommend you call now. We have LOTS of open dates as you plan Summer Trips and JULY and AUGUST are pretty much wide open.
Here's hoping all is well and we get to see you soon!
