What a different type of weather pattern we've had in late June and especially last week!!! We've had mild temperatures and cloudy conditions several days, some storms and strong winds a couple of days and then a "Dust Storm" from the Sahara that made for a weird looking condition during the last Weekend in June. Through it all we've caught fish and lots of them on most days, but we have also had a few days that kept us humble as we've had to really fish hard to get a box of fish! I'm guessing that we will soon see that stable weather pattern that July brings and we can count on hotter, clearer and less windy days!
As we enter Summer, we can almost always count on more Top Water Schooling activity from the White Bass and a bit better bite from the Hybrid Stripers. We begin most mornings looking for the Schooling action on the South Shoreline and then move out to the Main Lake where some days you can have literally acres of White Bass chasing the Shad to the surface in water as deep as 50'! It's a sight to see! 🙂We usually have a Rat-L-Trap or Tiny Torpedo tied on to catch these fish. After the Top Water slows, we move to Main Lake Points & Humps or up the Creeks to fish shallow water ridges and catch our fish on 1 oz. Silver or Chartruese RSR Slabs. It's all FUN and is a great way to spend a pleasant Summer morning. We're always back at the Fisherman's Point Marina by midday and our Customers have a Burger while we clean and bag their fish.
If this sounds like FUN to you, give us a call and Let's Go Fishin'!
