    Below Wolf Creek Dam

    What is the word on the fishing below the dam now? Are sauger,walleye and trout still biting? What is the bait of choice? May be going down next week, any infro appreciated.

    was down there tuesday. the bite was better before dark with jig heads tipped with minnows. They did not hit cranks or curl tail jigs to well.

    How did you fish the jig head and minnow? Did you bounce it off the bottom, cast out and reel steadily back, or some other type of retrieve? Also what size jig head was used? Thanks.

    I used an 1/8 oz. orange jig head and cast from the wall out and bounced it on the bottom slowly. The sauger would pick it up on the drift with the current. dave

    I agree the smaller the jig head the better!

    they were only running one generator so i could use the smaller one. you have to go up in size the more gens. they are running but i try to go as light as i can.

    Are shipjacks still biting? you said you let the jig fall to the bottom, are you getting alot of snags? What size minnows are you using? Do they sell them at the gas station on the way to the dam from jamestown?

    well you are going to get snaged some but if you keep it moving not as much. I was using crappie minnows from the country store. about 2" or 3" long. dave
