Dave these weather fluctuations have had my mind spinning. In your experience, and in general terms, does a late cold snap like this extend the pre-spawn bite or shut it down?
My experience is that it will shut down the shallow bite for a few days (the early roamers) things stabilize and you get a few warm days. The deeper bite will slow for a day or two but will recover fairly quick.

BRRRRRRRR..........
Man, Interesting year this year, that is for sure.
For what is worth, I fished the Blood river area and the surface temp I found in Blood river ranged from 54-57 degrees. On the main lake, 54-55 degrees. I got out to the main lake about 3:30 and was fishing in 25-30 foot water and caught 7 bass around the point I was fishing. The biggest being 17 inches and the smallest 13. About half had color and the other was still on the pale side. Up in blood, working my way back to Irvin Cobb, I caught several here and there on points, 13-14 inch range. All were pale. Hardly any wind today, made for a nice day to be on the water. Fishing with a tube jig, smoke with black pepper that I put some red on it with a pen. We'll see what happens today, Monday. Suppose to be high 70's and some wind.
