Where is a good place to net shad in the river ? I have only seen then by the dam and can't throw the net around there!!

I picked up 2 of these to try casting if I don't find and gizzard shad... do you think they would work?they are about 7 inches long[ATTACH=CONFIG]15187[/ATTACH]
Would probably work, but we have caught them on Cotton Cordell Redfin's in the trout color and Storm Kickin Sticks in the trout and shad color. I think they are 7-8".
