Lowrance HD5
My LowranceHD5 started to over heat and the unit shut down. I turned it back on it did it 3 more times and it never came on. I called customer service and sent it back. Becauce it was out of warrenty I paid 340.00 for a replacement unit. The new unit shut down from over heating. I rewired direct to the battery with a 10 amp inline fuse. It is stiil reaching temps up to 158 degrees. Has not shut down yet. I had the old unit for 3 years never had this issue. The out side temp was 83 degress. Is this the norm?

That does not sound normal........and 10 amps seems way too much for an inline. I'm using 3 amp on my Helix 7.
