wading the Licking River last night

Went out with both of my sons last night to do some wading with lightweight rods. When it gets hot, this is the best way to fish. Overall caught about 40 fish and at least half were smallmouth. Caught 'em on ultralight cranks, creature baits and a bass stopper worm. As my boys are getting older, we don't get many chances for the three of us to go out together and its always special when we do.

With father's day coming up, think about taking your kids fishing. I have an amazing wife who is allowing me to bless another father and son by taking them out fishing this weekend. This won't be a trip where I do much fishing, but I try to pay it forward 'cause the good Lord has blessed me.

I fish the section between Cynthiana and Paris. There is now a canoe and kayak rental place in Ruddle's Mills that has increased the traffic in an area that we rarely saw other fishermen in years past.
