minn kota problem

I have a 2 year old 24 volt minn kota foot control. A couple of times it won't start when i hit the button. I can lift the motor out of the water and put it back and it usually starts working again. Problem intermittent. I have looked for loose wires (without disassembling anything) and everything appears connected. I am afraid there will be a time it won't work anymore....suggestions.. oh, occasionally it stops when it's running and pushing foot control repeatedly and changing direction of motor helps. if not, I have to raise motor and put back down.. thanks.
