Word on the street is a new BPS is coming to Evansville. Possibly in the soon to be vacant Famous-Barr store at Eastland Mall. Don't care where they put it as long as it's true........

LAST EDITED ON Feb-19-06 AT 03:16AM (EST)[p]Gov. Mitch Daniels has committed $2.5 million to help the city of Portage with bringing a new Bass Pro Shops store. Cabela's is going to compete by building a superstore in Hammond.
The state is hoping to generate sales tax revenue by bringing in shoppers from Illinois and Wisconsin.
I guess the state will come out ahead, after the first $42 million is sales.
I would assume the Clarksville location also brings in a lot of tax revenue from Louisville.
OK who did you hear that from? Hope it's true but I won't start jumping up and down until I see the grand opening. I got excited about that potential Aquarium Project out here in Warrick County and it was a scam.
BPS just built that new store in Clarkville, IN.
Evansville could sure use a fishing and sporting goods store to compete with Dicks Sporting Goods and Walmart's sporting goods stores.

From what I read in the Indy Star, the Portage Bass Pro is a done deal.
Also, the Cabela's is a sure thing.
It does not really help me out anyway, Cincy is 3hrs, Clarksville is 3hrs, Portage is 3.5hrs.
If I go north, I could hit the Cabela's and Bass Pro in the same trip. My Discover card would melt.

The Cabellas deal is not a done deal yet. They have the property but are still trying to get the tax breaks from our governor.
