Is the sauger fishing still good right now below the dams? Since the river is back down to normal I thought I'd give it a try. I know right after Thanksgiving is when it starts to get good but when is it over?

Main spawning run is likely over at this point, at least from my limited experience 😅. I’ve caught them in April and May but not the numbers you get Jan-March. We were lucky enough to get out once this winter at the right time and caught 30-40 of the biggest average fish I’ve ever caught. Ended up leaving with a nice 2 person limit.
Hybrids and whites should be on right now though. I would throw a 1/4-3/8oz jig head with a 3” small swim bait or curly tail and you should be able to catch anything biting. Report back if you go, I’ve been thinking about trying there myself when they’re running a little less on the dam 😁
Well, I went and tried anyway, but I didn't fish the ohio river, I fished the KY river, only fished for about 2hrs, no sauger, caught 3 drum, 1 smallmouth bass and a gar, lol

nothing wrong with that! which dam? I was thinking of heading to boonesboro myself.
I went to lock and dam #2 in Lockport, the KY river wasn't flowing quite as hard as the ohio, that's why I went there
