Drum & Carp
Need some help here ...
I’ve always been a bass fisherman but my son has been dying to try and catch some carp and/or drum. I’ve seen a lot of pictures of people catching them at Falls of the Ohio.
With that said, I have no idea what type of lures/setup I need to have. Anyone have any good suggestions for either one? Size hooks (circle)? Leaders? Live bait or artificial? Lb test? Etc ...
Appreciate the help!

Drum absolutely love crawfish

Do you use real or soft plastics?

Real crawdads for drum. They will also eat night crawlers pretty good, No bid deal set up, split shot, about a size 2 hook on the bottom. Carp are pretty finicky, but like dough balls and corn. Have seen 40 plus pound carp caught so make sure you have gear capable of handling that.

Fly fishermen have decent success sight casting to carp but be prepared for a fight if you hookup!

Crawfish are definitely one of there favorites. If you want to use a lure you can't go wrong with a 1/4 oz jig and grub. I like white and chartreuse. The thing about the grub is you will catch everything and it helps keep young in's occupied. Throw it right in the white water. Good luck, Chuck

Don't know about the 'carp' .... but, if you can dig up some "green worms" along the river bank, you'll have a killer Drum bait !! I used to do that down on the KY River (at the ferry) back when there was a boat dock there (50+yrs ago) and Drum were the most often caught fish.

LOL !!! Yeah, your average "smell good" soap bar ain't gonna work on the smell of Green Worm slime !! You're gonna need Lava soap at the very least !!
