So Very true!
AFAIK both marinas are not only patroled but monitor with video as well.
With all the violence in Mexico , I personally would not take any of my children there, I have a good friend who does the fly in Canada thing on a regular basis , I'd hoped to go this year but a...
AWESOME!
Thank you Peter for posting!
Welcome aboard! I , Like Peter am trying to get much better on catching ole marble eyes ; I've spent a small fortune (maybe not SO small) in this pursuit LOL
Bob "rocks'--- funny as can be and ever willing to help Anyone, can't top that, first class IMO
IMO the easiest "solution" is to freeze smaller water bottles at home, place those in livewell as needed to keep fish cool, no risk of chlorine or anything else this way.
Hope it all goes well for you and yours out west!
That is awesome!
For night fishing I usually use 2-6ft lengths , daytime much deeper unless muddy water or overcast......
Ditto
The biggest copperhead I've ever seen was on Laurel River Lake , really wanted to board our pontoon! (guess smelled the shiners in bucket?????) It actually got into the trolling motor which was...
Along those same lines "I" would like to see Laurel heavily stocked with lake perch would be fun to catch , great to eat, and would thrive, feed the bass, walleye, catfish all ...... I've always...
I've fished Laurel on and off since it was dammed , it's a tough lake to fish/figure out (for most folks at the very least) I won't (and can't) say I have it really figured out (and we keep a pontoon...
Have you tried running Sea Foam in the gas ? It "might " get things lined out for you, I have seen it "work wonders" .
Awesome, thanks for the report!
I'm a beer batter guy as well, IF your deep fried fish is greasy the oil is not hot enough, this could be starting too low temps OR adding too many fillets at one time lowering temp that way. IF the...
Along those same lines Bob, I've often pondered about an oily saltwater fish (such as cod) I "think" that would work great even more so in waters with abundant shad and alewives ...... easy to get,...
That is awesome Dave, sometimes I wonder IF folks really understand what all can happen when things go bad quickly and/or how fast "quickly" can be, very happy to hear a happy ending
I'm assuming bass? Word is they're holding in 15-20 ft of water, (try around any of the rocky points near main channel, even better if outside of the bay/cove) spinners, jigs, tubes all reported to...
WOW, some "think" Ky has poor fishing, glad those who have caught record or near record fish here didn't know that, smallmouth, walleye, musky, and stripers come to mind right off the bat, the large...
Thanks for the report we went Sat and skunk city......looked like we were out to sea!!!!!!!! Was really rough seas on Laurel for sure!
While "some " state laws state this please point out where Ky even hints of this, I'm unable to find it .
MY advice (for whatever it's worth) is to put in at either Grove or Holly Bay marina as there are guards and cameras there to watch your vehicle etc.
My other bit of advice is to go slowly until...
Update? Pictures???
IF you can "conquer" the Laurel walleye in one year, you're doing far better than we have ;) BTW the majority of crappie in Laurel are "black nose crappie" and have different habits and locations...
We have been fishing Laurel River Lake for 'eyes some three years now on a regular basis (average 3 days/week) still no consistent patterns but we're NOT giving up!! :D
There are billions of shad...
Been out of town, just read this , very sad, Elnut , hang in there, prayers sent up for a speedy and full recovery.
That's awesome hope he catches 20 legitimate 7lbers :)
The Environmental Protection Agency is expected to announce a decision soon on whether to boost ethanol in the nation's gasoline supply from the current 10 percent to 15 percent. The EPA's decision...
Awesome, enjoy it every chance you get, they grow up WAY too fast, ours is 23 now. Doesn't seem possible really.
I wish I had some "great spots" but I always fished the other end of LC (London Dock area mostly) however I'll assume you have good electronics? I would fish where you spot fish (usually tight to...
My pleasure!
I just hope things haven't changed too much with the kill, and you hammer them. Not sure how you're "set up" for trolling but IF you have the space, rod holders etc. , with water...
Boone in "my limited experience" the LC Walleye generally hug the bottom, walleye "do suspend" quite often (especially on Laurel River lake) but not so much IMO on LC for whatever reason(s).
This...
Put in at Grove or Holly Bay, it's "risky" (to be nice) to leave anything elsewhere IF you value it.........
With surface temps in the mid/upper 80* range, I'd say they're about 30' or so deep (cold water fish you know) up by the dam under lights usually pays off, Line Creek is another good spot to try...
Dave I was certainly NOT questioning YOUR knowledge (that would be absurd) I WAS questioning those who don't have a clue how to properly troll (but just pull up on random points and sling plastic and...
FFG as already stated, trolling IS fishing plain and simple AND those who say otherwise don't have a clue how to "do it correctly" or they'd KNOW it takes far more knowledge to contour troll then to...
Can't say on the 'eye bite, we went and son caught a 3.25 pound rainbow and a 16 3/4" Ky bass! Both on cranks never seen the first 'eye though, even though that was what we were after..... but we...
Not sure on Laurel, but plan on going tonight to find out! Have heard it's over and that it isn't yet????
As for crowds, going to be most places as this is FREE fishing w/e . I'd imagine that...
While I'm not Peter, I have two of the same lights he mentioned on our pontoon they only float on the surface.
Exactly.........and
Even then does NOT apply to fishing in one's own slip (Buckeye or not)
Q: May I fish around a dock or
a marina?
A: It depends. Public marinas
on U.S. Army Corps of...
It is my understanding (could be wrong?) that he was as Dave said below the dam and his trolling motor wasn't enough for the vortex current so he went to go to the back of the boat, somehow fell out...
Dave, I for one admire you for that, many pros/guides would have opted to not air , but you are correct the reality is there are those days, we all have them.
Thanks again!
Thank you very much Duayne . I'm aware of the stripers poor survival rate with warmer water and not fishing after a limit. I'm trying to remember what area Beaver Creek is in.
Really don't know about Wood Creek, but with the major cold front predicted I decided to skip Laurel again this weekend.
Thank you very much Andrew, honestly I've not really fished for them since the lowering of the lake so I have no clue on what to tell him. Do you think open water around Burnside would be worth...
I have a buddy who came down about two weeks ago to do some fishing here (he is a big Lake Michigan fisherman) we really got into the stripers (first time for him) between London Dock and old Noe's...
That is awesome! Thanks so much for that information. Those are some Really Nice 'eyes. I've used riggers before , but don't have them on our pontoon, we do run lead core and much of the year run off...
