Had a couple day trip planned to Dale for a few weeks, 2/8 & 2/9. Rained a few inches the day prior, then the 50 degree temperature drop happened. I'm hoping that is the bulk of the explanation for...
Fished yesterday night. 6 fish total, no size. No pattern either, 5 of 6 came on different presentation. Pretty slow (for me).
Couldn't agree more. I think we've all been guilty at some point of getting excited about landing a nice fish and you boat flip or maybe make a poor decision in landing. But I'd like to think for...
You ain't wrong. Dam near every angler caught a limit today. (sarcastic clapping)...
All valid questions.
In the tournaments I fish I don't use cull tags at all. I'm probably what a lot of guys would consider overly careful with the fish. I can take the extra minute or two take determine which fish needs...
Dale
Cumberland
Kentucky
Laurel
Green
What times do the tournaments start? Fees?
And is their a schedule available?
Think it was this group.

Thanks for the info man. I caught my biggest LC Smallmouth on a seimbait back in pumpkin. Usually fish Wolf a little as well. Going to try and get down again Sunday.
What area of the lake did you fish? The crankbait bite picking back up?
Lake was 50-53 ish in most areas. Had a greenish stain to it, almost cloudy, but not dirty. 2-2 1/2 feet visibility.
Are there fish in there now? ;)
Northern Kentucky looks to be in enhanced risk of severe storms. I cancelled my plans.
Probably too late if you went yesterday, but GRL was 46-49 depending on where you were. Still pretty cold water. Water was surprisingly staind.
Agree. That was a pretty weak display. The Fishing University needs new professors.
Awesome heads up!!!
I had my best days at Cumberland last year in early April. Caught a bunch of smallmouth. Would be hard for me to recommend anything else, assuming the bite stays like it has.
Interesting. I was there around that time last year and it was the worst day of fishing I had all year. I was fishing very shallow as it appeared they were on beds, surprised they were suspending on...
Thanks for the replies guys, helped me determine I should be throwing the 3/16.
I'm not a striper guy, but I can tell you that when I was down there Saturday I saw boats planar boarding in the back half of every creek I was in, pretty close together actually. I wouldn't see any...
I've heard the Crappie bite is good. Lots to catch to get keepers but biting.
Thanks for the replies guys. Thinking of moving down to a 4 1/2" worm due to time of year.
Hey guys,
I've caught a few in the past on Shaky Head down there but I've never felt quite comfortable with my setup for this lake. At other lakes Rough, Green, Nolin, Taylorsville, I'll throw an...
Do any good?
The longest rod I own is currently a 7' rod and am looking at getting a 7'6" rod for making longer casts on say a football jig, and having the rod also double as a pitching/flipping rod. I'm seeing...
Yea, I'm hearing if you whistle and snap your fingers twice they'll be jumping in the boat and flipping into the livewell.
Joking aside, getting mixed reports of those slaying them and guys...
Nice job man. Timber coves? Cuts?
I also caught my personal best smallmouth in Pumpkin Creek. Farther back in the creek past the ramp, 5 1/2 lber as well on a swimbait. Other than that fish, I don't really do well with...
Thanks for the tip on the jerkbaits, didn't throw the first one wed/thur. I suppose the painful truth is that I've got a TON to learn to successfully fish LC somewhat consistently. I tend to really...
Skunked. Zero. Nadda. Nothing. Goose-egged.
Threw warts, rock crawlers, tubes, jigs, shaky head. Nothing. No bites. Nothing. Fished 6 hours Wednesday and about 3 hours Thursday before not being...
Started a subscription a week ago, still waiting on first box. Hoping to get some things to try I wouldn't normally seek out on my own.
Couldn't agree more. Been thinking about Sunday all week, huge temp drop and cold. Good to sit inside warm and wait a few days for things to stabilize. I'll be headed in the next few days.
I've
I'll give that a shot. Headed down Sunday. Such a big lake and many places to try but I'll be darned if I don't catch fish in Greasy. Thanks for the tip.
Good post. I haven't faired well in the tournaments I've fished either. I consider myself a good angler but man there are some guys out there that can flat land fish.
One thing that I love is...
It would be so amazing to live back there, it's such a beautiful little area of LC - and to be so close to great fishing.
I caught 5 of the 9 on the stretch of bank leading up to where that old...
Ended up at Cumberland on Friday 12/9. Morning was brutal cold, guide eyes kept freezing over and lost 2 crankbaits when the guide on my reel froze over and snapped my line. First 2 hours didn't get...
Thanks for the report. I was there about 2 weeks ago when the water temp was about 56-57 and had about the same type of day. Spent most of the day cranking chunkier main lake banks and not as much...
Thanks man. Picked me up some Berkly Power Tubes in 3.5 green pumpkin. Glad they may get some use. I'll post back how I do. Still trying to decide GRL or LC Friday.
Personally, I think the Site 1 Ramp is the best just past the dam. Off the parkway I'd take 55 north and Site 1 is just before you hit the tailwater area.
Thanks a ton for this Green report. I've been really trying to figure this lake out and have never really tried cranking the bluffs (parallel or 45ing them). I keep seeing the ones over by Holmes...
One afternoon last November I wasn't far from Settler's Trace and I kept hearing what sounded like a whale surfacing and "blowing". Went on for a few minutes and never saw anything but a ripple in...
Thanks for the update. Sounds like you didn't pretty well; well done.
The bluff walls/chunk rock banks usually produce pretty well for me on smallies using medium sized crankbaits. Mind saying...
Went a few days back. Had the exact same experience as Tacklebag. Picked up 3 fish (including a nice 4) on a 200-250 stretch of main lake bank with lay downs in the lower end. Wind picked up and let...
Usually never hurts to fish mouths of creeks, finding points, secondary points, parallel slow rolling craw cranks for smallmouth. They should be moving shallow around this time. They can be hit or...
Without getting too specific, you may have some luck finding chunk rock, points, and casting medium-sized, medium-depth crankbaits along them. It can definitely be an intimidating body of water, but...
Thanks again for the tip. I'm headed to Taylorsville Friday morning, was originally going to jig a flutter for spoon for LM or Hybrid but you have convinced to do a little Crappie fishing.
I'll...
