TVA: Boosting Oxygen Concentrations
I think the floods have pretty much whiped the grass out. Of course, I haven't been in the backs of any of the bays in a few months. Dave will know.
Your storry is not surprising. That's just the kind of guy Dave is.
At the ramps I put in at there are signs saying no fishing from the dock and no blocking the ramp. Well, routinely people set up shop on the ramps and fish from the dock. It pizzes me off to no end.
It's about a 900 acre lake located in Dawson Springs, KY. The people that know how to fish it do really well. I'm horrible on that lake. I can hardly ever catch anything.
One word: OVERRATED. Been there once and won't ever go back. The traffic on that lake makes KY Lake look empty. Besides, KY is a better lake anyway.
With the water in KY and Barkley being 4 feet over summer pool I didn't even attempt to get out there. Spent the whole weekend on local watersheds.
All the reports I've heard are that fishing...
Any time from the first week in April through the first week in May any creek will do. Trust me. Your arms will be tired from catching so many fish. Once mid-May hits it seems to me they get a...
I THINK that Craig Hipsher also guides for panfish. Maybe Dave will stop in and answer your question. He knows all those guys.
I'd say 100%. Although none of them will be catchable.
For the crappie, start at the mouths of the bays and work your way in. I'd say they'll be in 10 to 15 feet of water. Just a guess (I'm not much of a crappie fisherman). Use your graph to find...
Go to the backs of the bays in 2 to 5 feet of water and chunk a trap or spinnerbait. If that don't work go out into deeper water in the bays and use your depth finder to locate schools of shad. ...
The high water the past few years has killed it off. Sorry
Good luck with that! BTW, how do you avoid the moron who is fishing with no lights?
The grass is gone as far as I've seen. The high waters the past few springs has pretty much eliminated it. Of course, there may be some grass left in areas I haven't been. Just giving you my...
I would say that Kenlake will be okay in a few days if not already.
Not for me. I like fishing in the great outdoors.
As much as I love catching smallies, I would never go to KY Lake with the sole intent of targeting them. If you do then you'll be sorely dissapointed. Sorry.
I guess you'll need to catch smaller fish. LOL
Just kidding. FYI, I tried the Basspro Fluorocarbon last year and was impressed. Of course, i don't fish as much as you so there's probably less...
There's no question that Lowrance has HB beat by a mile. Good thing I didn't pull the trigger on buying a HB unit before I checked out the Lowrance.
Geez, that thing is a fricking brute!
What kind of fish is that on the first page?
Stay at Barkley State Lodge. It's a very nice area and should offer some nice relaxation in the evenings. It's probably about a 25 or 30 minute drive from the lodge to Prizer Point.
I've way too many stories from people who have fallen in the water only to have the vests NOT inflate. I'll never EVER wear on of those.
This cold front might have them more concentrated in the bays by this weekend. I'm banking on it!
Best wishes Dester. I hope you have many great days on the water.
That's normal for KY Lake. It's a flood control lake and is at or near winter pool at the end of October. You will have the same conditions this year so please be careful and stay inside the...
Yeah, Ginger is far enough south. However, it's a horrible road back to the ramp. I'd recommend putting in at Jones Creek. It's only a couple miles north of Ginger. After than, Just start bay...
Go South!!!!!
Some people are just "rubes". Sorry about your experience.
Tell your friend to stop fishing around ramps. They're there for loading and unloading boats, not fishing.
PS - What your friend did was criminal. Nice, real nice.
It's going to be crowded this weekend so I'd recommend planning on doing some night fishing. That can be someo of the most productive fishing of the year if you don't mind the whole "disorientation...
The bit is pretty much done as far as spawners go. However, you can catch post-spawn fish that are moving out. Here's a post from another website on the subject:
"Drop shot rig using the black...
City Limits is my favorite fishing show by far. Of course, if Schooled by Denny Brauer were still on, City Limits would be a close second. LOL
Not as clear as normal, but still pretty good. Temp is in the mid to upper seventies.
Never said you were a moron for asking the question. The morons are the people running WOT with fricking headlights on their boats blinding the rest of us. Calm down.
Yup. There's alot of morons out there. That's why I put in on South KY to night fish and only idle while hugging the shoreline.
PS - Boats are NOT equipped with headlights for a reason. ...
Any time your father makes it down here to KY or Barkley he's welcome to fish with me in my boat. Of course, "any time" means the weekends as I work full time.
I prefer not to mount but if somebody wants to mount their fish I have no problem with it. It's a personal decision. But, like I said, replicas look like crap. I've NEVER seen one worth a flip.
First off, I don't keep and mount bass. Not that I catch any true hogg. LOL
Anyway, I've seen a ton of replicas and have never seen one that looks any more realistic than "Billy Bass". In fact,...
Tough doghnuts, Aaron. It's a 75,000 acre lake. Find another spot. Just because he's fishing for cash does not make him more important than a weekend hack like me. I work hard all week in a...
It's Peter's board. He makes the rules and him and Dave enforce them. Don't feel bad, I've had several posts removed by Dave over the years for violating rules....AND HE'S A FRIEND OF MINE! LOL.
...
There's a forest floating in Barkley right now and I don't see it getting much better any time soon. If you value your lower unit then you'll stay on KY Lake. They're predicting the lake to be 6...
lil skeeeter, it's not that I find it hard to believe that anybody could catch all those big fish. It's that I find it hard to believe they caught them in a creek. 99 times out of 100 a creek cant'...
8 fish from a CREEK weighing 6 pounds each? LOL, that guy was full of shat.
I don't know about high water but I'm pretty certain the water they'll be releasing will make that place look like the Colorado River. You couldn't pay me to get below KY Dam when they're...
Bigwormy, just go to KY Lake. Like Dave said, it's not a step down from Barkley.
I'm guessing that the current will be really strong and they're be alot of floaters out there. Lake will be 3 or 4 feet over summer pool and most likely muddy. I'd probably go to KY Lake if I were...
I live in Hoptown and our rivers here in town that supply Blue Springs are still clear. Should be okay on North Barkley tommorrow.
