I don't see what the problem is with leaving your lights on...I sleep just as good with them on as I do with them off!
Anybody have any information on Helm's Landing and the condition of the gravel road?
Hybrid...The hybrid bite has slowed down. Early morning and late evening would be your best bet. I've heard of two ways that work for everyone but me...one is a popper with a 12" leader on with a...
Sounds like you had one of those "in the zone" days. Nothing better than when you take a guy who has never been and you catch a load of fish...it makes you look like the "Bill Dance" of trout...
Are they running big water out? I checked the web-site, it looks like during the day they're running 13,000+ and during the night they're running 6,000+. Wish they'd flip it over. How far down did...
good to know! The rain has postponed another trip for me...but I'm going to get down there sooner than later!
Back to the original question...hows the fishing...I went yesterday with little luck. Although the crappie were killing it out there. They were real big, but they were hitting it hard around the...
I heard and seen that the fish are in the shallows. Jerk bait and rolling a slow spinner bait seem to be promising.
If this system settles in on us like it did 2 yrs ago where we miss out on rain for months at a time then just wait until July when all we see are gravel bars covered by dead brown crap that used by...
thanks...I think I'll wait another week...I hate to miss it but the crappie are calling on Green River tomorrow.
Thanks guys...I received a report from a friend who said it was still pretty muddy and he hadn't hit anything...so I'll wait another week. Going to Green River for some Crappie on Thursday. It's...
I was thinking of going the opposite direction to Rakin's bottom and further if possible?...have you heard anything?
Anybody been up the Dix for whites yet? Is the ramp at Bryant's camp in the water yet?
You'll love those super dupers...especially in flowing water.
It all depends on what you're doing. If you fish the major lakes with good ramps 2wd is fine. I've seen people pull 17ft. Lunds with a Crown Victoria and pull it out of Lake Cumberland. (it was...
sounds great...I could really use some instruction from the pro's
It would be an up hill battle with the current flow at 20,000+. I would wait till the water is down a bit before launching...although there are those brave enough to fish the dam when it's flowing...
WOW! You did have a stellar year!! If you don't mind...could you share some of the lake trout information with me...I am blown away at the size of those fish! You can pm me if you like...thanks in...
My wife hopes I don't make it back...she figures all the money I spend on lures, rods/reels, fuel, boat accessories, and food would make her a rich woman!
I always tell my wife in the winter if...
Wow Rich...a double posting...you really wanted to get your point across...lol
I have fished the Missouri this past year, Big Springs (blue ribbon trout stream), Clear Springs (blue ribbon trout...
I'm with you Rich when it comes to proper catch/release methods. I rarely pull a trout out of the water, and if I do, I always wet my hands and lay the trout over on it's back to calm it.
The...
15 to 20 miles is the key, and that's not floating down and motoring up...that's using 20 miles of river which rolls into motoring for 40 miles. The more river you fish the more opportunity you have...
thanks...I look forward to it.
Thanks for the information Tim...could you provide a link or information on where you located the article...would like to read more about it.
Of course with all this precip those trout are safe...
didn't get a water temp...
Cedar Creek...just south of Stanford.
The water was pretty clear down to 4-5ft. There was some stain to it, but there was no odor or real dirty water anywhere.
It was a beautiful day...cold, slight wind, misty and the best part...it was LONELY! I was literally the only boat on the lake until I pulled out and guy was putting in to crappie fish.
Caught...
Mark,
If the discharge remains at 3,800cfs you'll be fine in any boat. You will still have to be careful...there are spots that will reach out and grab you but for the most part you'll be able...
I've often wondered how dangerous it was up by the dam when they're letting water out...now I know. Glad you didn't lose your life...but more importantly that your boat and rod and reels are safe!...
I usually fish just below or above fast water in the channels, but when the river is really rolling I find it hard to fish. I went on the Whiter River in AR year before last and the guide showed us...
thanks for the advice and yes...it would be great to get some technique pointers from somebody who knows what they are doing...hope you're trip produces lots of fish and big 'uns too!
Hope you have a great trip...
I'll be joining the ranks of fly fishermen this winter...I'm eyeing a rod and reel set up that seems to rave reviews for reasonable price. Do you have any advice on...
Rainbow run has never produced a fish for me in my 7 years of fishing the CR. It's in my head now and I can't seem to catch a break. I'll catch fish all day long from the dam to rockhouse and then...
I can fish on the even number days out of the month and everybody else can fish the odd days. Except for holidays and every Saturday...those are mine too. That should do it.
not better...just lucky! I'm going Thursday...I'll tell you all about it.
jonboat...I'll have to take you and show how to fish I guess...you saw the 6lber I took out and the others weren't all that small that I pulled out the rest of the day either. Fish slow and the bite...
I have a boat and I still don't care for it at 10,000. I find myself fooling around with the boat more than fishing. I like it in between no flow and 4,000. Hope you are able to have some...
Sorry about the trip...hope the 18th works out for you. I went to Cedar Creek yesterday and killed the bass, so my day wasn't a total loss, althougth I'm missing the river in a big way!
Looks like I'm out for thursday because it's just running too hard, but I hope you have good one Rich. I'll probably head to Cedar Creek again. Good days ahead though!!
water temp was 62 yesterday and today at Burksville so you know it's a little colder up stream. Has anybody noticed the lake level is going up even though they're pulling 11,900cfs and it hasn't...
River is running over 11,000cfs so you can get a houseboat in there right now...you'll be fine right now but the water's moving hard and fast.
Good report and glad to know you were catching fish in the river. I shouldn't assume just cause the water is flowing hard down there that I can't catch any fish.
5-7 inch worm watermelon color, and if there isn't any vegatation then rig is wacky. Throw it out and let it sink...and set...and then start walking along the bottom. Patience is required.
If...
thanks...I'll grab a bag.
I've had luck rigging it wacky...just a thought.
Sounds like a good day for you...the senko is a great way to fish those hydrilla points. We've been on wtrmln/blk with red flake. What color did you throw?
Same here...I have pulled the plug on the lower unit and drained the water so it doesn't freeze and bust, but I fish more in the winter than I do in the summer...the rivers and lakes are all mine.
having kids is just like fishing...once you have one in the boat you want another! Congrats and hope you get to spend tons of time with the wife and boy.
Here's my fear...I'm afraid we are going to be stuck in this moisture pattern for a while and we'll be dealing with a lot of snow through the winter. Doesn't sound as bad as rain, but the melt off...
Yes the super dupers are magical...and the color matters. overcast days white or silver works best.
Sunny days...silver, trout brown, copper, and bronze.
I have thrown a blue fox spinner and...
