Got a source?
I don't know. Last poll I saw, from around April, showed he was doing well. But that's still a long way off.
Anyone here have insight into the continuing saga of the Beshear administration vs. Rich Storm?
I seriously doubt that folks in the administration are unaware KDFWR doesn't receive state funding....
So I got some tungsten weights and a spool of Seaguar Invizx. Looking forward to trying them out soon when the weather improves. Unfortunately everybody else and their mom will probably be out as...
Thanks for the input.
I've been using your typical lead bullet weights. I was using stainless steel ones but they're larger. The tungsten ones are kinda pricey but I'll give them another go. I've...
I started using fluorocarbon last year and began to have a lot more success. Because it's more expensive I ended up using Trilene XT as a backer with a fluorocarbon leader of at least several feet...
That's awful.
Thanks for the tip! They're both around 5 years old. I used them a few days ago and they were working fine. But I may do some more maintenance on them this winter.
Has there ever been a situation like this before where the dissolved oxygen was so low in the deeper portions of the lake?
I bought some "reel oil" when buying a new rod today. So far the Shimano seems to be working fine now after doing what Richmann said. I did the same thing to the Pflueger as well. If either start...
Thanks! I'll give it a try and report back.
Hey all,
In addition to breaking one rod and losing half of another I'm now having trouble with two of my spinning reels.
I have a Shimano Sedona that's about 5 years old and it started lightly...
Yeah, that sounds like it. Thanks for the link!
Hey all,
Anybody know what all the construction is around lock 10 on the KY River @ Boonesborough?
I drove down to White Hall this morning and fished for about 2-3 hours. This was only my second time visiting the little public lake there. Never managed to catch anything on the first trip. But...
I'm in Lexington without a boat. So I usually head to Georgetown and hit up Elkhorn or the small lake at Scott County Park. Occasionally I'll try Jacobson but never had much luck there.
Anybody else sick of winter? I know I am and I can't wait to get out there and do some fishing as soon as Spring gets here! I kind of slacked off on my fishing later in the season last year so I'm...
I'm guilty of this now that I think about it.
I try too hard to throw everything I've got at them. Guess I better work on being wiser when it comes to lure selection. And if something is not...
Hey thanks a lot Geo.
I'll probably stick to the F&S spinning combo and my baitcaster setup from now on.
I will also try tying a leader to the braid on my baitcaster. I've never done this. ...
I'm curious, is there a commonly agreed upon rod/reel setup that can "do it all" (or close to it)?
I know the pro's and most all of you guys here have multiple rod/reel combos for nearly every...
I rarely have much luck on Elkhorn. Keep in mind, I fish from the bank. But I've all but given up on the three spots I used to frequent around Georgetown.
I looked up this book on Amazon. It appears to be out of print. It also appears to be highly valuable if you have a copy. The cheapest used paperback version on Amazon is nearly $100!
:(
Tried to replicate yesterday's success today. No such luck. Tried everything I had, from all kinds of soft plastics to inline spinners. Still though, it was a beautiful evening and I got some good...
Thanks guys!
I'm not a very good fisherman. So for me, even catching a bluegill is fun and a big deal! But today I caught my biggest bass ever at Lusby Lake in Georgetown. And to make it even more awesome it...
Looking forward to getting out there!
150k strippers? Count me in. :p
I've never done any winter fishing but I was thinking about heading over to Jacobson sometime this weekend to see if I could catch any trout. Am I crazy? Is it too cold out and should I wait for...
Thanks again for fixing that for me!

I just noticed, if I go to view My Profile it gives me some other guy's profile. Apparently there is another "fishin fool" on the board and the forum has my profile and his confused? Kind of...
Here's the new scope I ended up buying for the air rifle:
CenterPoint Hunting and Outdoors, Scopes, AR22 Series, 3-9x32mm Rimfire
It's pretty nice!
Oh definitely. I distinctly remember fishing with a cane pole when younger. Good times.
I bought the Tasco scope for $30 from Meijer. Going to go over there tomorrow and see about exchanging it.
The issue with the scope aside, I love the rifle. It's a lot of fun to shoot and I...
Well somehow the reticle/crosshair on the Tasco scope I bought broke and it's somewhere inside the scope. So now when I look through the scope there isn't a crosshair. :(
Sorry, I forgot to mention that! I'm really looking for lighter pound test reels for panfish and bass. That is mainly all I fish for.
Thanks for the recommendations so far!
Hey all,
I have two Ugly Stik's that I started out with a few years ago that have no reels at the moment. When I started taking fishing more seriously I initially spent more on my reels than my...
Thanks for the reply.
I received my rifle last week and I've been having a lot of fun with it. First thing I did was install a slightly better scope (a Tasco Pronghorn 4x32). I live next to a...
Interesting. Thanks for the links GeoFisher.
Looking forward to receiving my Hornet, hopefully by the end of the week. I'll update this thread when I receive it.
Nobody?
Well, I went ahead and ordered the Gamo Hornet from ****'s online.
I know this is a fishing forum but obviously at least some of you are hunters since there is this hunting sub-forum. Which is great, because I'm doing research on air rifles and am thinking about...
Went there today but only caught a small bass. Quite a few people out though.
So this improves my chances of actually catching something at Jacobson by what, .0001%? I never catch anything at Jacobson.
This looks to be exactly what I'm looking for! Thanks for the offer but I'll go ahead and order a copy from Amazon as I won't be through Etown anytime.
Thanks to everyone else for the...
Hello all,
I'm curious as to if any of you guys have any fishing books that you might recommend. I'm relatively new to "serious" fishing and I'm trying to learn as much as possible. I'm looking...
Would be interested in hearing some tips as well. Some nights I think about going night fishing here in Central KY. But so far all I've really done is bought a propane lantern to use...
Hey all,
I'm curious how you guys fish frogs, specifically the Ribbit frogs. I have one rigged to one of the non-weighted "Double Take" hooks that are made for these. Is there a certain type of...
I have the Shimano Caenan. It seems like a great reel and I'm slowly learning how to use it. But it's my first baitcaster so I really don't have anything to compare it to. I do recommend it...
So I'm kind of new to fishing seriously. I'm curious as to how you guys set your drag. Does it depend on the species you're after? What rod/reel setup you're using? I mainly use a spinning setup...
This is basically me when it comes to fishing. No joke, I can't even remember the last time I actually caught a fish. So I'm pretty much the worst fisherman on the planet. I don't have a boat so...
Awesome. Thanks guys, now I have another spot to try!
