Found a few in deep brush today in a river channel
Personally if I have to pass someone close on any body of water (by close I’m talking anything inside 50 yards or so) I drop to an idle, especially in creek arms or narrow areas like rivers.
Week ago Saturday at daybreak it was 53 in pumpkin. Haven't been on since.
Seen a few stripper boats on Cumberland in my day!!!! Sorry had to break the tension. I see both sides of this argument being a bass fisherman and a fall/winter time striper fisherman. I’ll tell ya...
I’d try Taylorsville or Green. There are maps on fw.ky.gov with brush pile locations. Punch a few in a gps and go give them a shot. As water cools, they will once again pull up shallow on brush...
Watch a few videos on pan fishing with a float would be a good place to start. Can do this with minimal gear so not a huge up front cost. If you live rural, ask a farm owner if you can take him to...
Not sure if you are still looking but seen some posted on Kyhunting website this week.
Walleye on Cumberland remain a mystery to me. I do not catch a lot but usually catch several every year. Need to find you someone who knows where and when to vertical jig for them cause that seems...
Hit Green this am looking for some crappie. Had heard reports of guys catching them trolling so decided to try out my new spider rig set up. Not much to talk about though. Only had 4 keepers but...
I forgot, he said 10 inch ribbon tail in June bug
Got a buddy who has been fishing Dale a couple nights a week for the past few weeks. He was catching them pretty good on main lake points in 18-20 FOW. I haven't talked to him in the last week to...
If you are ever down in Somerset I’ll give ya a hundred for em!!
Sabiki will catch them at night under lights pretty good. Just takes a bit of time. Throw net is the only other method I use and it works very well.
I see lots of LED set ups now that have black lights and green bank lights. I would guess it makes some difference but not much. Probably less than say your trolling motor noise or moving around...
Depends on what species you are targeting. Night fishing can be very productive. I use green lights during early summer for multi-species like crappie, striper, walleye, and cats. It is like any...
My guess is if you try they are dead. No matter the size honestly. Caught a bunch of short fish one night fishing under lights in the summer. Water temps were closer to 80 then but when we left at...
I fished Fishing Creek the other night around the mouth and had one keeper. Not sure if that helps with ur decision or not but that's the only report I can give you.
They are spilling now so i would not recommend it. Water gets way up and makes it very difficult to say the least.
My guess is the park is closed but the ramp is open. Its likely due to the Covid restrictions still.
I have done both. Casting can be tricky for baits balls on top because it can sink through them quickly especially if its weighted. Its almost best to go weight free but that makes longer casts...
Cast net is the most consistent. They make all sizes if room is a concern. I have had some luck with sabiki rigs on larger shad.
I have been fishing most weekends throughout this restriction and there has been more boats out than I have ever seen. Places I normally fish in spring have had twice the boats than normal. I'd say...
I was at Green Monday. Better get there early if you want a spot on a Saturday. That's all I'll say.
It’s always busy. Small lake with a few creek arms. Lots of standing timber, some artificial cover and some riprap areas to be found. Sunken bridge and some old ponds. Any place there isn’t...
Both can be found in Cedar creek but be warned, the lake is crazy.
Saw a post on another forum about several Dodge diesel trucks being broken into at ramps on Cumberland the past couple weekends.
With all the negative crap right now a fella has to have a laugh now and again, intentional or not!! Like R19 said, all in fun, not poking at the OP at all!!
What kind of knot are you tying and what kind of line are you using? That accompanied with the correct weight of bait may assist you in losing less lures. There are better lines out there for...
I totally want to say i have landed a few with a 10 inch power worm, no money required but i'd be lying:p. Money is always required lol
Finding any good bait up there in the head waters or bringing shiners?
Laurel can be a frustrating lake at times if you don't have any experience on it so I personally would mark it off the list. It is a great lake don't get me wrong but when I think about where I...
Fished Saturday for a little bit for them. Couldn't find any live bait to throw to so ended up pulling umbrella rigs as a last resort. Marked a ton of fish and good bait but didn't have any takers....
Blanked on crappie on Sunday for me. I'm ready for some 50 degree water!!
Don't know anyone that does it personally however have done a few myself. Get ya a couple sheets of Advantech, some outdoor carpet, and some 3M industrial spray glue. Can be done with very few...
I don't know about that end but the other end is pretty dirty everywhere still with a lot of floating debris. Water temp was 45-46 but found some 49 degree water. I would imagine the main on the...
Anyone been to or by Green this week that can give an update on the water conditions?
Never fished on the Ohio. Is the walleye/sauger bite a consistent bite? Like worth driving 3.5 hours for? Just curious. I know a fella can get up there and catch blues pretty regular from what I...
No jumps seen but we did mark several schools of fish at the mouth of the creek where the dirtier water from the river met the clean water from the creek.
Be way up river tomorrow. Had some reports of some being caught in jumps up that way. Will post if we see any. Keeping a buck tail tied on just in case but chasing bass and maybe crappie.
Piney woods is a dirt and gravel ramp that should be usable when you are here. Lot of good fishing to be found in White Oak. One of my favorite small mouth creeks and great striper fishing in the...
With the rain forecast today and tomorrow the lake may be muddied even worse than it was recently so waiting that extra week may be your friend if muddy water scares you any. Not a lot of current to...
Heard some fairly recent reports of some good fish being caught waaayyy up river around the Omega/Buck Creek area and up into buck creek. These fish were caught in jumps mostly but several fish seen...
I fish this way in the summer to escape the boat traffic and beat the heat. Its an effective method. Bad thing with this method is if you set up and the fish aren't there you have wasted a night. ...
I'm no pro but we catch stripers most winters and springs in fishing creek and white oak creek. Much like you I stay off the big end and focus on the small end of the lake. Haven't been out in a...
It's multifaceted for me. Its the thrill of the chess match between myself and whatever species I am after. Whether I can outsmart him or not. Its the time in the outdoors and the sights that you...
I've never worried much with it bass fishing or pulling bait for stripers or fishing jigs for crappie for that matter. I figure my trolling motor and me banging around in the boat put off more sound...
Was hoping for some turnover color in white oak on Cumberland this weekend as I can usually catch bigger bait once that begins to occur. No sign of it however. Water was actually quite clear.
Get up in the head of the creek and buy her a couple of those smaller A rigs, like the yumbrella rig. Put a few small swim baits on it and throw it. Tons of smaller shad in the heads of the creeks...
55-57 in white oak today
Sorry, I was referring to 6 foot radius so 12 feet when opened. I have owned several Betts nets. At the rate that I have torn and hung them, that is the mid grade net I stay with. I have purchased...
