The root of the problem.
I'd just like to ban anyone from Ohio or Michigan ;)
About mid way back in the creeks from 15 to 30 feet deep, they are still spawning and scattered. Bass are biting like crazy too, it’s hard to keep bait on the hooks at times. Top water bite is also...
The Ohio Navy denizens who park their house boats at the marinas don't like the smell so they complain about it constantly. One time a lady came out to the cleaning station at Jamestown when we were...
I had Salyer's recover the bunks on my skiff trailer a couple of years ago. I don't remember exactly what I paid but I remember thinking it was a good deal and they did a great job...
Salyer Boat...
Isn't that a common FLW "pro" tactic? I wouldn't worry too much about it, they are probably entitled to all your spots since they are "the best anglers in the world" and all.
Are they still keying on the main lake channel or have they moved back to the cliff walls?
Oh the drama!!!
Ban sport fish tourneys and only allow tourney fishing for carp on the affected reservoirs.. We might just be on to something! Then we can find out for sure if the FLW is truly comprised of "the best...
Thanks Pappy! We kayak up around Van Buren sometimes and I always see some species of carp jumping here and there but not sure if those are of the Asian variety or not. If they are in the lake though...
Yep it's bad for everyone.
I heard a rumor that asian carp were in Taylorsville now. Can anyone confirm?
Again, how are you determining whether or not any of the fish in the lake have spawned? What kind of research have you undergone to determine that not one smallmouth in the entire lake has spawned...
The fact that you can't even construct a sentence in English correctly makes me question your self-proclaimed superior intellect.
Just to be clear; you are claiming that this thread was started...
US Fish & Wildlife banned tournament fishing from refuge waters back in 2001. Does anyone here really think that was done just for the helluvit or do you think they did so to protect those fisheries?...
Common sense would dictate that state fishing regulations should apply equally to everyone, not just the folks who don't elect to fish in some meaningless tournament.
Stick to the public lands; trespassers aren't getting much love right now due to a rash of recent thievery in the area.
No sign of ice on the lake at the 248 bridge this morning, the road though was FUBAR.
First full moon in June is a pretty good guideline.
Book a trip with Capt. Jim Durham (striperfun.com), he does really well in the river.
Agreed, total waste of time unless you're keen on seeing Twiggy the water-skiing squirrel but sadly twiggy only makes two appearances per day.
Nice job and nice fish, I get stuck in the same ruts myself.

I haven't been down to any of the ramps lately but from the 248 bridge it's solid ice as far as you can see.
Very nice! Congratz!
Has anyone informed Jeremy Wade of this?
Fished Monday and Tuesday with little luck. Found tons of bait and feeding schools of stripes in the very back of Wolf but they were not really interested in our shiners, I believe they were gorging...
Builds character. :)
Been having pretty good luck all week but the bite is slow. Fish are scattered and finicky about bait. Best luck at creekmouths from zero to 45 ft deep pulling shad on planars slow.
That's just silly.
Thanks for the update MrPike!
I'll be heading down to Jamestown Sunday afternoon to fish through the week myself. Any more tips would be greatly appreciated and I will happily return the favor if...
1 - Valero in Russel Springs (Pro Bass)
2 - BP in Jamestown
3 - State Dock Marina
4 - Alligator 2 Marina
Kind of a crap shoot this time of year but between them you should be able to find some...
All the guides I've met at Jamestown are very friendly and knowledgeable, just be sure to book as far in advance as possible and weekdays are always better on the lake this time of year.
Jamestown Marina had the best shiners we could find last trip, both Valero and BP had shiners but they were small and not real healthy. I did hear that the bait shop near the dam had some good ones...
Was down late last week for a few days and the fishing was great. Caught several really nice smallies and spots pulling shiners on planer boards along with several nice cats and stripes. All fish...
I went jugging with some guys on Realfoot a few years ago and they used chicken breast soaked in cherry cool aid probably around 5 or 6' deep if not shallower. No really big fish but we were catching...
I was down last week and fished hard for 5 days straight, we only landed two stripes but both were very nice fish. They were scattered out and still spawning, one of the stripes we caught was full of...
I heard from a reliable source that the night bite has slowed way down on the upper end of the lake and most fish are coming on main lake points at creek mouths early morning through mid afternoon...
Yep they were early this year, peaked about a month ago.
2009 22′ CS 218DLV in good shape with Yamaha 215hp 4-stroke (~700hrs) w/SS prop, meticulously maintained includes Wesco single axle trailer with freshly recovered bunks and new tires, all batteries...
Hey guys, found another boat I'd like to move up to if I can sell mine. Hit me up if anyone's interested in a nice CS218DLV ready to fish.
I dropped anchor in a short cove about 2 miles from low gap headed towards the dam and dropped my light. A few hours later there was bait everywhere which I could easily have caught if not for my...
Fished last Wednesday through Saturday and it was fine. Got off the water around Noon on Saturday and the Navy was in full deployment mode when I got back to the Jamestown ramp. Otherwise it was a...
So how was it Adam? I was down doing some work on the boat yesterday and drove down to Jamestown Marina which was as crowded as I've ever seen it. Both of the trailer lots on top of the hill were...
Van Buren ramp has re-opened. :)
FYI Van Buren is still closed.
Anybody been out after the stripes recently? Thinking of making a trip soon as work is driving me insane and I need a break but don't really want to be fighting debris the whole time.
iPilot's the only way to if you do any trolling whatsoever.
Green River
Inland stripes will still spawn even though their eggs have very little chance of hatching, or at least when compared to the success rate of spawning saltwater stripes. However, there has supposedly...
We fished Tuesday and Wednesday and limited both days in under 4 hours all while releasing the pregnant females, there were three of us so do the math. We were pulling planers with free lines all the...
