I was wade-fishing under the Spears bridge this morning (Cumberland River, outside of Burkesville), and heard a terrible splash. The river surface was foggy, but I could see the top of the bridge...
Thanks for the info, Gforce.
I sent you a personal message.
Did some wading just down from Burkesville last week...decent fishing...however, looking for some different scenery; maybe a new challenge on a return trip in 2 wks.
I noticed a ramp (on Google...
Thanks, Tim. We found some yesterday in that range near flats. It's a timid bite right now.
I'm thinking 15 - 25 ft. based on my past notes over the years, but these water temps are not average. Any thoughts much appreciated!
Well, the water temps seem below average...just wondering if the spawn is over, and the post-spawn pattern is in play? Seems the smallies could be a little confused, but I'm probably wrong.
Anyone...
Good point, jcb.
I am planning on wading an area I waded last year, and I talked to the property owner everyday from the river. He was on his back deck. I think if he had a problem with me being...
Thanks for all of the input.
I really appreciate the post by jcb in regards to a ruling by Judge Shepherd.
But folks, here's the confusion, and bear with me, please.
Yesterday, I thought...
Thank you both very much!
I thought that was the case, but it always good to check if not for sure. gforcetrivers, thanks for the offer...much appreciated. Let me see how the planning goes, and...
I planned to wade the river around Burkesville soon, and I don't want to trespass on private property. If I am in the water (both feet), and not touching the shore out of water, would I be OK?
I...
I've gone through numerous threads about Cumberland River bank access in/near Burkesville. One thing I have not found, but I keep hearing about, is county-owned property across the river from Traces...
I agree, R19. It would be difficult to go against the historical data.
Well, I know this: that river will still be a spectacular sight, and very comfortable to be around with these 90 degree...
Well, the generation schedule for the river is still 2 or more for 24 hr/day, as of 6/30.
Does anyone have a guess if that will continue over the holiday? I know that was a lot of rain, but...
Using in-line spinners (very small). Also Creme mini-worm harness..., but the small in-line is my favorite.
Yea, just haven't seen hardly any river fishing reports, other than weather-related...
Anything guys?
Rock House, Spearman's Island, Traces? The last report I found was well over a month ago...hoping to fish areas about 4th of July...anything?
Haven't heard many recent fishing reports about trout below the dam.
Are there any rainbows being caught between the dam and Burkesville? Thanks for replies.
Thank you, Rick.
I also just heard that a company from Florida is managing it...I find that interesting.
Just wanted to give this a bump. Has anyone heard anything about the current ownership of Cedar Hill Resort/Marina?
The only thing I know is that it is "somewhat" open... if you leave a number, you will get a call back...but no cabin rentals 'till Spring. It is bank-owned, and being managed by 2 care-takers right...
Agreed, Geo.
In fact, a relative of mine was interested in this property a few years ago. She develops assisted living environments, and she thought this would be a very attractive location. She...
That would be interesting to know!
I believe the bank would take 40 cents on the dollar of the appraisal, but that's a guess based on my neck of the woods.
The big question: Was the auction...
I just heard that the bank auction for Cedar Hill Resort (at lower end of Dale Hollow) was cancelled. It was scheduled for a few days after Christmas. Just wanting to know if anyone on the KY...
Thanks for the responses!
I will keep these in mind for next December, as we just did not have time to research areas outside of Dale Hollow.
I will miss the "old" Cedar Hill Marina...hope it...
My apologies if this is not the correct usage of this forum, but I'm reaching for straws today.
My wife and I have been going to the same marina/resort for 15 yrs between Christmas and New Years,...
Were you fishing in mid-lake areas, or did you cover other areas? I fished the lower lake down by Cedar Hill Marina, and it was brutal and I am being kind.
I second Sripernut 1.
I could look at 100 videos, and would not learn as much as spending time on the water with a reputable local guide. I learned more about smallmouth fishing in 6 hrs. with a...
Going a slightly different route on this one.
Hope to get a North Carolina coastal shark bigger than last year's 145 pounds. Will try a couple of different techniques and baits and see what...
It was very good fishing for me from Wed. through Fri. night. Many smallmouth.
Yes, it was cold. I was at the lower end of the lake, and live bait was working well in 12 ft - 18 ft of water. Color...
Cap, thanks for the great report. Like em' with or without pics...good job, and great info.
Cap, just go a few miles past Hendrick's Creek to Celina, TN.
The "One-Stop" should have some shiners and fat-head minnows.
Really enjoyed your report...thank you, sir!
I hate to hear this, too. Those guys could tell you what's happening and be spot on.
There is another shop, just out of town, on Highway 90. Haven't been there in a while, but it looks like it is...
Thanks, Cap...very nice report.
Hope you do OK tomorrow, and if you are in Sulfur Creek, I hope you can give the "Queen Anne" Stump area a shot. It is in Bend Hollow, and if you focus on areas out...
Cap, I don't know what the problem is with the COE fishing report/water temp. They used to give decent updates, but wow, something doesn't seem right.
Anyway, hope you have a good one down there.
Just a slight bump...
The evening air temps. have been - well - rather chilly in the last few days...anyone see a noticeable change in water temps. or fishing conditions since Saturday?
Not trying to be mean, but walk-in access is getting harder every year, with the camps and such, along many river areas. I do feel for the homeless, but it's getting dangerous at times.
Much appreciated, Zimmy! Those temps still a little tough.
Again, thanks.
Hey, good luck Zimmy! Hope you get something going. Let us know what's going on when you can.
Just checking for any updated water temp. report on Dale Hollow...might be seeing a decent drop soon.
Well, seems like not much yet...hey, would love to hear from anyone down there this week-end. Good luck!
Just wondering if water temps starting to drop a few degrees and if anyone doing any good in the mornings or evenings with the smallies? Might be a while before a significant temp. drop, but just...
In Sulphur Creek, we always used to fish around a huge stump, referred to as the "Ms. Anne Stump", I believe. It got it's name after a work boat hit it yrs. ago. It is on a huge point that drops out...
Cap, I also fished at the Dale this week...from Oct. 1st until this morning.
I have been fishing the first wk. of Oct. for 25 years on Dale Hollow, as the start of "cool weather" fishing (the...
Let me try again...anyone catching smallies, crappie, walleye at the Dale?? Rick W??? Dave (trophy hunters)???
Just wanted to ask if anyone is catching fish at Dale Hollow in the past week? May try to find some shellcracker and crappie when we head down in a few days.
Just haven't seen too many up-to-date...
One other thing I used a few years ago when temps in the low 20s...a small spray bottle filled with windshield washing fluid...seriously.....did not damage the mono, and kept the icing away...had...
Thanks, Geo...I should have known that...appreciate the info.
Hoping to get down to Dale Hollow in the next couple of weeks...water temps should be good...wondering if any decent patterns are setting up?
Fished around Thanksgiving in the Cedar Hill area,...
Three things you can count on this time of year...jingle bells, new year wishes, and the mighty Dale Hollow turnover.
I have a good idea when to expect the first 2...but has anyone been following...
Any folks know where one can buy creek minnows (suckers) in the Celina/Burkesville area or somewhere around Lake Cumberland? Some fellas net them in the creeks...in fact, a young man posted here...
