Nice! We have a lake just south of us that grows redears over 5lbs, can you imagine!
Man...two of my favorites. Hope you got out there, nothing cures the winter time blues like some tug-drug!
The elusive hybrid...they are always that way. You just have to enjoy the few times you get into them, because they will have moved on the next minute.
Man I miss that lake...:(
Keitechs are our go-to out here in the west as well...killer. WTG.
Thanks everyone...we truly are lucky in southern UT to have such great bass and trout fisheries within such a close proximity! I do miss my KY waters though, especially those big cumberland stripers...
some trout...
Hey guys, long time no talk. Thought I'd share some fishing pics from the last few years, since I haven't been on here in a long time. Southern UT has been treating me good with a great mix of trout...
Hey man, it has been a minute! Yeah, we are still out in UT. Every once in awhile I get missing you guys and KY, so I jump on to see what's up. Hope to make it out there this summer with family to...
Man how I miss Cumberland winter stripers! Good luck to ya!
Yeah...on a river like the Cumberland, where there isn't much distance between your boat and those you are passing, idle down in advance, pass with as much room as possible and then fire back up on...
We used to really get into the jumps in June and July, both with the whities and kentuckies...fun stuff! Donkey rig some 3 inch shad flukes and double up! Good luck!
Hello my old KY fishing friends! 2015 was a great year here in the land of the sun, Southern UT! Started the year off by selling my old reliable, and buying a much newer/bigger ProCraft 21' bass boat...
Careful...once you catch the "fly-fishing" bug, you are hooked for LIFE! Welcome to the fly-fishing fold...I lived in BG for 10 years (in Southern UT now) and I relied on Three Springs Lake to help...
Haha...yep! Though of doing that back in the day so that if I ever came across some of my Fishin.com brothers, they could identify me. Worked well. That boat is now making a new boat owner very...
Thanks man. Yeah, we are doing good out here. Miss Kentucky a lot...although this winter you guys have had is sure making it easier on me! LOL. Upper 70's here this weekend and lots of sun! Taking...
Thanks guys. It has been a good move for us, but I do miss my Kentucky fishing holes from time to time. Nothing better I MO then LM jumps at Nolin in the summer and striper jumps at CL in the...
It's been a couple years since I've posted anything on here, and it's been almost four years now since we moved out of Kentucky, back to Utah. Just wanted to say hi to all those guys on here that I...
All good suggestions. I would also suggest Peabody management area (numerous lakes there) and Nolin River. You can also do what I did as a WKU student with no boat...start getting to know people and...
Veritas hands down IMO.

We always caught some really nice eyes right at the convergance of Hatchery Creek and the CR @ night with large spoons and jerbaits...If the flow is low it can be really good. I caught the biggest...
I think I've figured out why Nolin has been so off this year...its because I'm not there anymore! I have no other explanation...

12lb mono...med action rod...5/8 oz cumberland pro bucktail jigs white/chartreuse with white grub tails...put in at the dam at dawn, head up lake slowly while watching for jumps...find a jump, cast...
Man...those people got ROCKED!!! Scary stuff...I agree that this can happen to a degree without being reckless, but I have a feeling that guy was just showing off and going way to fast...I probably...
My main man Justin! You still living the dream up there at CL? We moved across the country to Southern Utah last fall, and I'm going to miss our anual CL fall trip for the second year...sad,...
We have established one of the most consistent patterns I have ever seen on any lake here in Southern UT...all the bass you can catch, nearly every day on strike king 6x CBs in 30-40 ft of water over...

Thanks! The weather has been so stable out here ever since we moved...pretty much blue skies and warm 24/7! However, we just entered our monsoon season, and we have been getting some much needed rain...
Peter-
You know that my fishin.com brothers are always welcome to come join me in some desert fishin! :D
-Rich
How dare you target schoolies Bob! You should be ashamed...
-Rich
I have done completely away with using tapered leaders, unless I am trying to present dry flies...in all other circumstances (like the one you are mentioning) I use straight flurocarbon line for my...

What's up Bob! Yeah, its me...putting in my two cents as usual, lol! I have heard the jumps are nearly non-existent this summer. Yeah...your idea of Donkey Rig might be different then what I'm...
I talked to a buddy of mine who went out after the jumps the other day, and he said that they were non-existent! They did catch some nice fish from the dam to Brier Creek working the points with...
Briar creek...early morning...donkey rig...heaven on earth!!! :D

JUMPS, JUMPS, JUMPS!!! :D

I have had success in the heat of the summer finding shad schools with actively feeding bass on them...throwing shad cranks that dive 4-6ft around and threw the schools, and also ripping white...
Welcome to the fold brother...u have officially been hooked! ;)
-Rich
I haven't at BRL, but I do see why it wouldn't work. I would use some deep divers, like 20' + and troll around points and channels. It is funny you mentioned trolling for LM bass...I had never done...
I had never heard of erie dearie rigs either until one summer at BRL...we watched two boats of amish catch hybrid after hybrid during the heat of a summer day. We were floored by it! Luckily, we ran...
We have killed the hybrids at Rough with earie dearie rigs and umbrella rigs. Use crawlers on the earie dearies, and small swimbaits/road runners w white/chartreuse grubs..on the umbrella rigs. We...
By far my best trolling lure for hybrids in KY was the erie dearie rig in chrome color, with a nightcrawler on the hook. Feed the night crawler on the hook so that it is straight and dangling its...
Thanks guys! Missing "My 'ol Kentucky Home"...but catching some of these babies is making it a little easier! :p Take care!

Jennings Creek is right off of Veterans and Glen Lily Rd.....if you travel on Veterans past the Walmart...take a right at the blinking lights (Glen Lily Rd.)...you will go over Jennings Creek within...
Quetico Canada....epic man!
-Rich
Definitely to late on the hook set if the bass are swallowing it...I would use fluro if you are not already, a light sensitive rod, and keep better touch with your bait. I have had fish swallow hooks...
Hybrids/Wipers are by far my favorite species to catch...they just are flat out mean! We also fished the Barren River Lake flooded parking lots the last few years, and it was incredible! Rough River...
Bassin is full swing out here in Southern UT! Just thought I'd share some with my KY brothers! Take Care! :)
