I don't claim to be an expert, but I have always done pretty well with a basic white wooly booger/bugger. Nothing fancy, just a good all purpose fly.

A lot of the time, if somebody sees a snake in the water, they automatically think "water moccasin."

I don't know about McAlpine, but the sauger are still hitting pretty well up at Markland. The whites are picking up, too.
