Although there are universal rods, that combo is pretty tough...
Well no, I guess not:mad: There is a USA Bassin tourney that day too that will draw 40-50 boats. Have fun:cool:
Monroe can be tough to fish.....especially if you don't fish it often....but it has good ones on both sides! The bass are in post-spawn and are heading towards their summer haunts. There is a lot...
Not on Monroe!!!!!! It did last Sunday though!
Just about warm enough to catch a few big girls!!!!
Not yet...the high school basketball team I help coach is still playing in the tournamnent!!!! Gotta love it!!!! Going for the sectional title tomorrow night against our biggest rival. Will be out...
Already been myself too....actually I've already caught two over 4 lbs on a chatterbait! Water couldn't have been over 40 degrees!!!
The thing is you still have to throw it in areas where fish are....that is the main difference between good fisherman and most everybody else...they can locate WHERE the fish are!!!
Where?
I love Power Pro myself. I know some guys do use a leader of mono or flouro, but IMO you lose the advantage of using a super line (braid) if you do so....strength vs line breakage. I use braid on...
How much more does it cost?
I totally disagree about the Interstates...i have had several through the years and never had a problem with any of them, in fact just the opposite. Any battery maker is bound to produce a bad one...
This cold front probably hurt that bite.....A friend of a friend caught over 60
bass in a day on the A-Rig there just last week....and yes I saw pics.
Nice article....agree or disagree. Do you think that KVD couldn't figure out how to catch fish on the A-Rig??? He is considered the best for a reason!!!
What are they???
What is this product?
Sounds like $100 ought to be fair.
Thanks for the info.....they should look sweet on an 1197 SI!!!!
What series is it? They have high end and lower end rods. I have several of the MOJO Bass rods by St. Croix, that new run $100.
7 foot St. Croix Mojo Bass crankbait rod matched with a BPS Johnny Morris 6.4.1.......love it and caught lots of good ones on it this year.
In Indiana you could only legally run two baits on it. Yes, they just want to sell the bait!
I agree....go with the biggest one you can afford....you won't regret it.
That wouldn't surprise me....they're in there that big. From I have heard from several people, November, December, and the EARLY spring are the best times to catch them.
I have been fishing Monroe since the mid 80's, as a child and now as an adult......I caught my first smallmouth there on Friday. Only a 16 incher, but it was a fun fight and agood end to my season!
Use bigger baits in harder to reach, less fished places in the creek.....or go closer to the main river like BASSKY said.
Another reason you see them using fluke type baits is water color....the water has to be fairly clear to use them.....they are great shad imitators...they would be great on the Alabama Rig:D
I agree.... this is the time of year when they do come shallow to feed up on baitfish. 6 ft. is pretty shallow though.... Sounds like a magic stump!!!!
Both, but mostly at home. I think Ky has more and better fisheries overall.....therefore more fishing related posts.
Ryan.....Waveland is an interesting choice with its size and all. How many boats are in the tx? I fished it in July and loved the place, other than the 90 degree water! I bet it could be great...
I saw them below Williams dam on the White River....trying to make the jump!
Turnover already???? Not close on Monroe yet....the upper column temps are still in the low to mid 60's
Must have been lots of week end guys like me out there too. Weights?
Went out woth my 4 yr. old son and dad yesterday to the slow side.....and fishing was slow. Caught three short bass between 3pm and 7pm. Lots of boats out!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm going out this afternoon....I'll let you know what I find. The fish should be transitioning shallow to follow bait....we'll see.
The fish in Waveland and Boggs look very much alike......fat and sassy! Boggs is tough for me when it gets hot, love it in the spring and fall though. I can see how Waveland is way over...
Waveland wasn't too bad today for such a hot day. Not too any bites, but they were all nice chunky 2 3/4 - 4 lb. fish. Caught them on cranks and shakey heads. Tried jigs and worms on the breaks,...
Hey guys I'm to Waveland tomorrow for the first time ever. Anything you can tell me about the lake? Thanks!!
Well, its not that simple......but crankbaits, jigs/worms on the ledges. Topwater action could still be good early/late in the day too.
The Corps is dropping the lake very rapidly now, and the lake is only about 4 ft. high and pushing 90 degrees.....as said, good luck! Let us know how it went!
On my 1197 you can change the size of the split screens.....not sure if the 788 is the same or not though
I always wondered this too. Thanks for sharing Tim. I wonder how that would be on a lake like KY. Lake though? Some of those fish get carried over 50 miles.
Thanks......late night typing for me...I did see those #'s in your post.
That is tragic......but they sound like avoidable accidents combined with inexperience on the water. That sounds harsh I know, but most people do not understand how dangerous water is! I am shocked...
LMAO with you Embrey......thats the attitude I have with Monroe. The problem is I feel much more accomplished when I catch fish on big water....compared to pond fishing....so I keep banging my head...
Lets go back Tim. I don't know Terry and don't read every post put on here like you do. The post he made said " I had my limit". To me, that sounded like he was keeping them.....if not why not...
I am far from PETA....in fact I hate them. But common sense says not to keep smallies out of a small creek/river. It takes them too long to grow big man.....I was just saying that if he wants that...
Show me where it said that he didn't keep them and I will apologize. I just got back from a Canada trip and we kept some smallmouth to eat (no walleye in the lake)....but this was a big lake that...
Listen fella.....you said you had a limit of smallies....that makes it SOUND like you are keeping them....if not just say you caught however many fish and it becomes much easier for us to understand...
Maybe its the just the spots and times you try Embrey:D
Surely he meant that he had the legal limit and didn't keep them........Terry tell me I'm correct in that assumption!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If not I'm gonna come put a hole in your kayak.;) Taking lmb from...
