Awesome fish man. Bigger than any striper I have caught.
I have used bluegill for striper bait. It works, but the size of fish is smaller and I didn't get as many hits as with shad. I almost prefer to jig for them over trolling a bluegill.
Went to the river this morning. Finally at a fishable level for the rock shelves. No striper run or sauger. Snagged a few carp. Hopefully they turn on here soon.
Rattle shad baits, 1/4 oz jigs, and spinner baits. Chose your colors based on the day. That's what I have had my success with these past few weeks.
You can buy them on ebay. If you have a boat I can lead you in a good spot. In the Louisville area.
I really like the idea. I look forward to being able to purchase these in the near future.
I had always heard that you were not legally allowed to transfer fish from different sources of water. Other than that you were ok to do what you want with your fish as long as you abide by the...
There is a creek I fish right on the river. there is a otter than hangs out there. I have hooked him one time. but we catch good size stripers and cats there. Cant say that he is doing any real...
Those are all private owned lakes. I too have wanted to try them out. Are you around the Dixie highway area? If so I can point you t some good spots.
Looks like a good day on the water.
Picked some 4 arm ones up from eBay last year. They come unpainted, if you care to paint them yourself. They were $3 a piece and used a 10lb swivel.
still catching them in the creeks on the river.
Just left the falls. Couldn't really fish due to ice forming on my line. River is up and on the rise. Just gotta wait for the temperature to cooperate
The current is strong right now. The river is on the rise, which is my favorite time to fish. You ill need to move down stream a bit to find slower moving water. But this is the height I catch...
Went Monday morning. No luck.
That's crazy! He has the drive though, ill give him that
Very nice cats sir. You must have found a good hole.
We have caught them at the falls before . When the river is low you can catch them up by the dam. Not a common catch but were happy to see them there.
The apartment and basketball court areas are pretty trashy. Stay clear of those areas and make the hike around the lake. Plenty of nice bass in there for you. As far as problems in the area I have...
Its disappointing. Managed t get a few cats in last week. Nothing major but most were over 15lbs and it was our first successful trip at the falls this year. Bait started running and everything. ...
I have not had too much experience, but the rod I use is a 8ft med/heavy action rod. It is actually considered a light catfish rod. But it throws the weight well. I use a faster retrieve reel...
Very nice fish sir. That is a HOG!!!
HAHAHA, your choice
The falls has been real slow on sauger so far. Your better off going up a creek.
The falls is my second home in the spring, summer, and fall. I have fished there for quite a few years. I always try to target catfish and I have found the best place is right under the...
Nice crappie, we don't see too many that size anymore.
In the spring you can count on sauger, striper, hybrid striped bass, cat fish, carp, perch, and unfortunately Asian carp. Most of the time you can find a good spot an catch them all. Those are just...
That's an awesome video. I'm jealous.
When the water I this high I try to fish the creeks mouth by the river. I usually do ok wit sauger and striper. The bait tends to school in there really well in high water conditions.
I have been...
Those are some really nice fish. Good job to him!!
HAAHAA, just sent this to my fishin buddies. Good find sir!
Caught a good 18 inch sauger today at McAlpine. The rest were under 12 though. So they are slowly moving in. Hopefully this rise in the water will bring them in when it calms back down
Caught one Sauger a week ago. Fished for about 4 hours. Finally got one at the boat ramp by the hydros.
The bite was on good when the water was a bit lower. It is only a few feet higher at McAlpine but the fish were still active, just not as big.
I was able to get one striper in about 3 hours at the falls. He was a decent 7lb fish that hit in a shallow pool on a 1/4oz jig wit a 3in white grub. I was popping my bait off the bottom bumping...
That's a nice healthy looking fish. Congrats on the nice catch. Keep em comin!
Still no dates posted on the FINS website but hopefully they do get a chance to stock the fish soon. I know I'm looking forward to it.
Look like another good tournament. Good fish brought in and im sure everyone had a good time.
Nice fish man. I went Monday morning and they were still active. Hopefully they stay moving for a little bit while this water is up.
I have been to that spot off exit 22. The anglers path I believe it was called. Didn't do so hot there but I hear people talk about it quite a bit. May need to try back over there again. And are...
Awesome video. Thank you for the share.
Yes I walked from the upper dam down to the hydro. The sand beach goes pretty far into the water even as low as it is. I could walk a good ways out and still see the sand bottom until I got too...
It was a terrible spot. It was really shallow and the fish were slow. One decent 3lb striper and small catfish less than a pound. Moved back toward the dam and caught a few more cats that were in...
I am going to walk down the island below the dam and try to fish the hydros. I have never done this and was wondering if anyone had any fishing advice or tips. I usually fish the falls but not in...
Glad to help you guys out. Most of the striper caught were about 5lbs. Which is a good striper to me. I have only caught a 10lb, 8lb, and 7lb striper as my biggest stripers. But that's a whole...
I know many of us fish the river so I thought I would give some info. Striper were biting well on cutbait and livers. The cats were hitting on about anything you threw out. The more obvious fished...
Nice healthy looking fish. Congrats to you and your lady sir.
I was fishing the falls where the fossil beds stop and the mud begins. By the small creek that runs into the river right between the falls and the boat ramp. There is an island of small rocks built...
Was fishing the falls Monday morning with a friend from the bank. No fish all day and when my pole finally got the slam it was pulled straight into the water. Lost a bass pro shop power plus rod...
Glad to hear somebody is catching nice catfish. It has been 2 weeks of nothing for me. Few stripers and no cats. Thanks for the report.
