I'm afraid that could be it too.
Same here
Absolutely. I was fishing a river tourney on Saturday morning, looked up and saw that bright full moon and thought, oh crap here we go again.
---Current breaks where there are eddys on the main river
---- rock banks, docks, some type of hard cover
---- creek mouths where there is hard cover (rocks, boulders, barge tie offs)
--- downsize...
I was putting my boat in at bluegrass and saw a man putting a short bass (guessing a pound) into the bed of his truck. I reminded him that it was a 18 inch limit restriction to keep the fish and you...
Magiksmallie,
We flipped bushes all day on Saturday and caught 3 keepers. The biggest was 3.4lbs. It was pretty slow and I know they are drawing the water down this week.
Probably an odd pick for not saying a finesse presentation but a classic chrome and blue or chrome and black 1/2 oz rattle trap. I would cover as much water as possible with it.
I agree...Navionics Platinum works well with those units. Order one of Amazon.com, they were $25 cheaper than anything else I could find.
haha thanks Geo.
Anyone care to comment on how the bass fishing has been at KY and Barkley Lake lately? Strictly catch and release, just wanting to know if it's worth the 2 hour trip Saturday.
Hey guys,
What mapping chip do you recommend for Barkley/Kentucky Lake? It would be for a Lowrance HDS 9 GEN 3. I also fish Patoka Lake and Lake Monroe in Indiana some. Thanks for any responses.
This is a good thread. Maybe it's just a few bad years but man, Barkley just isn't what it use to be. The numbers of fish just don't seem to be there like they use to be. I'm sure guys like Dave...
Bummer...flipping bushes has to be some of the most fun you can have spring fishing. It's a shame that the water levels have mirrored a roller coaster this spring.
I'm not sure but someone on here will know.
I'm not really sure. There are a lot of little pits in that area but I'll throw out some names. There has been a bunch of pits being bought up over the years.
--Sugar Ridge Wildlife area ...
That's awesome, congrats!
thanks guys.
I've asked before but I'm still paranoid....
Would you put your fiberglass boat into Loon with the current water levels? They are like 5-6 feet lower than last year and I'm cautious to try it. ...
MagikSmallie,
We fished Chick Wed-Sat this past week (4/12-4-15) and we did alright. We caught several in the 2-4.5lb range. We had two that were right at 5 lbs. We fished Harrison Bay and a...
haha nice report. How big were the waves out on the main lake? I bet it was pretty wild.
Oh man, always one of these type guys everywhere I guess. I’ll take the high road.
so much anger. Caught and released my biggest bass out there, 8 lbs 3 oz, but who cares. Even if I didn't have much luck or was a terrible angler, why do you need to come in here with so much hate?...
ha that is exactly where we are staying. Thanks for the info, I really appreciate it!
I for sure will.
I'd love to see some responses as well. I'm going next week. First day with Rogne Brown's guide service and the next 2-3 days on our own. Any help would be awesome, catch and release.
Was going to fish Sunday mid-morning out at BG, pulled into the parking lot....well let me rephrase that, I tried to but it was full. I couldn't find a big enough spot to park my truck and trailer,...
Nope, that photo is 100 % authentic. Awesome fish...that's a 5 lb bass with it. I think the Muskie was around 25 lbs I think he said. Don't quote me on that though.
Good Lord, check this out. There are about 300-400 likes on it and about 50+ comments of ppl saying " we need to start heading the #######(pit that we all know). I bet it's going to be packed out...
Barkley/Kentucky Lake is around 54-55 degrees. I know you didn't ask that but I would guess Patoka is 1-2 degrees behind that. 52-54 degrees.
Thanks!
Well said Geo. I just want people to have fun fishing and if that means more boats, so be it. If people abide by the limits, practice catch and release, there will still be good fishing.
Sure,...
Yup, it's a good lake. Watch out on the very far north end of BG, it is private. Good luck, have fun, and throw em back!
SLP--- we only fished for about 2 hours. We only had one hit, about a 13 inch bass that came off.
I was fishing with a buddy from work for a few hours on Saturday around Barkley Lake State resort. We pulled into a cove just to the north and noticed Asian Carp jumping everywhere. We even talked...
Have you guys seen the picture of the 12.11 lber caught this week out of KY Lake? It's a toad.
Well I'm finally winterizing the boat for the winter but it was a great season. I had an awesome year out there with my biggest bass to date. We have a great fishery if we can just continue the...
Used the ramp of Saturday morning and it was fine. I think it was because of the significant water drop that led to people falling off the back of the ramp. The lake fishes a lot differently now...
Has anyone ever tried bow hunting around Bluegrass? You know there has to be some big bucks in there but it looks like an out west type of hunt. Finding draws, trails through crp, getting up high...
I was lucky enough to catch an 8 lbs 3 oz bass this summer and let her go. Any recommendations on where you'd get your replica from?
They should start to transition off the main ledges to the creek channel ledges and into the back of the bays. It's just a really hard time of year to catch fish down there. I think a lot of them...
I saw a guy pop a tire on it today. There is a hole on the south bluegrass ramp. It's on the south part of the ramp... Just a heads up to everyone. I'll call the DNR Monday to report it.
Hey All,
Me and a buddy are planning a mid-week trip next year to Lake Chickamauga but can't decide on what time of year to go. We are strictly catch and release bass fishermen. We fish out of...
Tks Dave for the input, I appreciate it.
I'm looking to buy a newer, larger bass boat to fish Kentucky Lake with. I currently have a small 17'6 fiberglass boat that is like a bobber bouncing around on that lake with any wind. What is the...
Thanks for the advice Moveon.
Thank you!
Would you guys feel safe launching a fiberglass boat in Loon pit? If so, which ramp would you use. I'm just worried I won't be able to get it up with 2WD or there will be a hole at the bottom of it....
