I think IU won. It was a rough day on the water with high winds and big waves. It was a deep water bite by the dam that seemed to be the best. I normally love fishing Waveland but water was down,...
Newton has been a fun alternative to Turtle Creek but I still wonder how the bass fishing is out there. From talking with staff at the lake, they advised they've been stocking it with bass each...
The October 30th tourney at Geist hs peaked my interest. Anyone have anymore details on that one? Would love to know more.
Thanks!
Yes, it was on the warm side. They weren't generating at the time but the water temp was still 62 or so. Crankbaits and senkos were the ticket for us.
For what it's worth, I hit Newton yesterday and ended up boating 25-30 fish. Biggest were around 4.5 to 5lbs. Missed a number of nice fish, but that's fishing for ya! Still, happy with thsoe...
Amen to that one. I got a ticket out there a couple of years ago. Better have a horn or whistle as well as an up-to-date fire extinguisher or they will ticket you. Still, that lake is fantastic...
Turkey,
TC has been tough but there are still fish in there. Bad thing about the lake's layout is that the amount of fishable water, right temps, depends on if they have both generators going or...
For anyone interested, there were 11 boats that turned out for the event. 13lbs took it to win and 3 other boats had over 10lbs. The boat that won had a sack with couple of smallies that were huge!...
Do you have to be a member of Indiana Smallmouth or is it truly an open tournament? Sounds like a good cause and good opportunity to get out for a bit.
Thanks!
When I've hit both Newton and Turtle Creek the past few years, I've still done pretty well. I must say I've done a lot better in the past at TC during its hayday, but I still manage to get decent...
I don't think there is a set prize for the world record bass. If I recall correctly from an article I read, it depended on many things; the tackle being used and if the company of that tackled...
Smallies on the main river have been doing well. Find big rocks in slow current near decent depth and drag a crawdad jig by it. Won't take you long to get into some nice fish. Good luck!
It's right off of 62nd St. before you get into Broad Ripple, right behind the Library in the park. Just take Keystone Ave to 62nd, and then go west about 1/2 a mile. It will be on the right (north)...
That's about right on the fish. It's got the basics and isn't a bad little pond to fish. The water is crystal clear and there are some nice fish in it.
They have a concrete ramp to launch any...
We were out there too. Line and guides were freezing; made it tough to fish. We did manage to get 25 fish with 9 of them being keepers. I think the biggest was just over 5lbs with 3 others over 4....
Thanks for the info. Yep, best to fish with a buddy. I'm also considering taking my young daughter into some of these, who likes doing tournaments too.
Dumb question, but are these team tournaments?? It never really says in any of the information.
Thanks for any details!
The old days still keep me coming back there from time to time. Not like the past though.
Still, there are some good fish in the lake, even today, but since the lake has changed so much there are...
The lake has a 10hp limit. When I was there in December, fishing off the bank/road by the warm discharge, the water level was actually up. Guys were catching channel cats left and right but no...
They were, I know that for a fact. When I was there a couple of years ago the security guard mentioned it to me and we did seem to catch a greater variety in size of bass. I'm not sure if they...
Seems like the lake silted in quite a bit too, as it's tougher to find those old clay bottoms with any decent depths. At least they started restocking bass, as well as other species, to help improve...
Well, I managed to get out on Geist on Saturday and did okay. I was in a small tournament. We managed to bring in 12.2lbs, so it wasn't too bad of a day. Fish were suprisingly shallow (right off...
Anyone hit Geist lately for bass? Any feedback would be appreciated!
Anyone catch any musky out there yet? I know they've been stocking them for a few years now but wasn't sure how they were doing. Just curious.
Not a problem. Difference in opinion or just in general is certainly the spice of life as they say.
I still think the new feature is pretty neat, but I think time will improve it to the point...
I apologize. I simply thought you asked for another opinion about the finder and its new feature! I gave mine but didn't expect such criticism of my two cents.
Well, I've spent quite a bit of...
My father-in-law purchased one for his G-3. He's kind enough to let me run things when we fished together and I have to say I wasn't as impressed with the unit as I thought I'd be.
First, you...
I have a bass tournament at Muskegon Lake, MI, in September and was looking for any helpful info. Anyone have any good tips on that lake?
Thanks in advance!
I also like flukes but what I don't like is the lack of noise in stained waters. I like something to call the fish in a bit.
Since spinnerbaits don't hang long enough in a strike zone, I made a...
MuskyPete,
Shoot me an e-mail at muskyman87@hotmail.com. I've been making glide baits for a while and I'll be happy to share some tips with you.

I got out a few weeks ago but the warmer weather has provided nice temps throughout a greater portion of the lake. So, where they'd normally be bunched up in the warm end due to cold water, they're...
He lives in Missouri and was stuck in that ice storm. They got him on the phone to address the group for a bit but had other speakers instead. It was still a nice open house but would have been...
I hit Turtle Creek on Tuesday off the bank. I only managed one 13-inch fish along with a few other bites. I was only out for a few hours.
The fish are there but I think you need to be out in a...
TI,
How'd things end up at Geist?? Just curious about the results and how many were caught.
Thanks,
-DAG
I hit Turtle Creek about a week ago. I got one 17-incher and had a few bites. Very mediocre for what I expected, even though it rained all day that day.
The fish are still there but the majority...
Just curious, but were any muskies reported in the fish kill? I know they've been stocking them in Waveland and hope they're still doing okay, along with a healthy bass population.
Thanks.
Is the main ramp open again?
Also, is anyone doing any good out there? Just curious, shallow end or big side??
You can fish both with whatever rig you have, however, they are both electric only lakes. So, you just need to keep your engine tilted up and you'll be fine.
I second the suggestion to get with...
There are actually a couple of spots down south you can go for musky; Plover Pit by Edinburgh or Bass Lake by Sullivan IN. Bass Lake is probably the better of the two but I did have a nice 40-incher...
I think the main thing is that if you go with an aluminum boat that does have a wider beam, versus the Trackers with a much narrower beam, you'll be a happy camper if you want a great alternative to...
Stability is certainly a key factor when considering any boat, glass or aluminum. However, having owned both, I'd much rather pull and run with an aluminum boat than a glass one. Also, the upkeep...
