I tried that but the photos must be to big. See that is how big that crappie is. :o
Can't figure out how to post a photo here but I did upload it to photo page.

It was rough. By the time we left the lake I was exhausted.
Got on the lake for a while yesterday. First fish I caught was a 12 1/2 inch crappie. Then several small gills, next was a channel cat that was around 4 pounds.
A few casts later I had a hit a said...
Just was not into spending a lot of money on one. Found a close out on Humminbird 698 for $400 shipped so that is what I got. Was debating between that and the Helix 5. Now if I would have had a...
Yes I did find some but no catches. New to side imaging so it was mainly a play and learn day. Bait balls were really evident.
Turtle creek bass, Patoka gills, what a past we had.
I was on the lake yesterday. No ice. Put in at Lickfork ramp and was just cruising around the lake trying to learn my new locator. Saw two other boats and two kayaks. Warmest water found was 41.5.
Drove around some of the lake today. Checked some ramps and found the main ramp in the park and fishermans campground ramp open. SouthLick will be open soon. Still ice at Kings except right at the...
Normally it is clear of ice in February. I usually start out just for crappies and prefer upstream from Walls ramp. There is a primitive ramp at Kings Bridge that should be ice free by the middle of...
I am in an old 17'Tracker TournamentV. Just look for one or two old grey beards mainly throwing jigs. Fish mainly in the Lick Fork and South Lick Fork areas. Also Walls to Kings Bridge area.
The smallies are doing well in Patoka. Dragging a nightcrawler has been frustrating due to all the yellow bass. I am going to try dragging some leaches this year.
Found this unit for 399 shipped. Anyone have one or have an opinion on it?
Will be there Monday. Hope the lake will be in decent shape.
Mainly after gills and redears. Will be jigging for some crappies as well.
Just a sign of the times. It is not just the kids who have no respect I have had a pontoon full of seniors(Of which I am one)come between me and the bank when I was about 50 feet off that bank.
Have a place rented at Barkley and with covered dock and taxes it will be around $125 a night.
Was above Walls today and caught a ton of dinks. Only two keepers and two jig loving channel cats. Warmest water was 55'. The lake is still up a couple feet making it difficult to fish the trees that...
Any opinions on whether this cold will have any effect on the gills and redears going on beds by first full moon(the third) in May?
I am starting to think the smallie population is the only thing that is expanding in Patoka. Have caught several this year.
Sugar Ridge is in Pike county, old strip pits.
Was there yesterday with a friend. I have a Pelican 10 that really does a great job on these bodies of water. We fished for gills and bass. Brought 31 nice gills home and released all the bass. 15...
Ray Charles could have seen how bad he treated the outdoors person.
Thanks for the info. From looking at the map we will have many choices.
Daughter and son in law are moving to the Carbondale area. How is the panfishing around there?
Don't know about this time of the year but during January I was catching them in a river using crappie jigs. Quick jerk and drop worked best. I call them bluegills on steroids.
Just got back. Gills and redears were hitting good in the backs of sheltered bays. We use small jigs with Gulp alive and caught a bunch of cats on them too. Was planning on staying till the weekend...
58 to 62.5 yesterday

No smart phone, barely basic cell phone literate. My cell did go off last night when a severe storm came through. Thanks for the replies though.
OK so I got caught on the lake a couple days ago in some bad weather. Thinking about installing a radio with a weather band. Anyone have experience and recommendations?
Hope you are wrong about that. Don't see it happening unless someone puts them there.
Yep, still catching them deep while jigging. Doing some vertical jigging too. Pulling jigs with nibbles has been the ticket the last few times out. Strange year.
Hit the lake twice this week. Best results was trolling jigs 1 to 1.2 MPH. Nibbles greatly enhanced the catch.
It is a strange year. Been hitting some deep brush lately with little results.
Best results have come near trees(Not necessarily in the trees)in the 20'+ range. Been casting the jig and letting it...
I don't target catfish but do catch quite a few while jigging for crappies. The lake is full of them.
Not that much difference in gas milage between 2 and 4 wheel drive in todays trucks. Personally would not consider a two wheel drive for myself. Don't need the 4 wheel everyday but when I do I am...
Did that too. Haven't trolled the 164 area this year yet but did catch some real nice ones there earlier. Was out after the rain Thursday and found a few nice ones along with the usual ones working...
Seems after April a big crappie is very hard to find in Patoka. Was out yesterday, caught hundreds and had a few 10 inches with the rest being 6 to 8. Caught them shallow, deep and all depths in...
Sure hope they have. We will be at Barkley starting Wednesday.
They have been dying for a long time. Happens every year. Just a natural thing. Wish they would all die so we could get some good gills back in the lake.
Nothing wrong with keeping a bunch of small crappies from Patoka. We are overstocked with them. Wish they would take the limit off for a couple years. Some days you just have to catch 20-30 dinks for...
Got to be the tee shirt. ;)
Fireline my friend.
favorite is black/chartreuse in just about any form from plastic to handtied hair or marabou.
Don't even think of going without nibbles.
Weight depends on depth needed to fish. Right now 1/32...
Fished between Walls and Kings yesterday and between two of us caught at least 400 crappies. Lots of small ones but we brought home 30 slabs.
Hit Lickfork today and things started out a lot...
Let us know how you do. I will be on it at least the next two days. Thinking Kings tomorrow.
Congrats to your F I L.
Had "OURS" over there today Geo. Had an appointment with them for next Monday but to windy to fish so gave them a call and they got me in. Took great care of me. Had a few issues including some braid...
