Covered in leaves and muck. Last week the creek was stained.
I was talking about flyfishing guides. I'm sure Sasser is good but I've never seen him talk about flies and fly fishing.
rooster tail?
You may want to visit www.doubledoutfitters.com or http://www.cumberlanddrifters.com and click fishing reports for some flies to use. These guys are the best in the guide business. If the water is...
Goodluck with that.. let us know how you do.
Their was a huge houseboat out by the dam. Sounds like you might have been down there Stripernut? I just wished I didn't live 2 hours away. By the time I got off work and drove down I was exhausted....
I ended up catching 4 stripers trolling down the bank at by the ramp. I thought I was in a good place when I seen two striper boats come to my side and cut me off with their boards and 6 poles out....
Thanks for the message. I don't understand why people are so hush hush over walleye. Up north they are a dime a dozen but down here its a like their prehistoric species and never heard of or talked...
I'm planning on going to Cumberland tomorrow for some trout fishing during the day and hopefully trolling or jigging at night over in the lake. Anyone got some pointers for night fishing at...
I watched first hand this past weekend what a rebel crawdad can do. I bet my buddy caught 15 brown trout on these. This weekend the trout fishing was on fire! Cumberland river is one of my favorite...
What color and size pin minnow would you recommend? I was down there this weekend and did fairly well but always looking to add more firepower to the tackle box.
Aluminum boat would be better IMO. You need to watch the generation schedule on TVA.gov website. If the water is down you will have a hard time getting a boat in at the dam. You may want to look at...
Looks like Victoria Estates crappie to me.. They are loaded in there. I think I caught 50 there one day.
Flood warning. This should be good for the white bass fishing.
After the rain last week the river cooled off to 47 and the bite stopped. I was catching upwards of 12 to 14 bass a trip before the water temps dropped.
Any news on the whites running yet? Anyone catching a few?
What part of Eastern KY? There are fish trap & Dewey.
Lake Linnville is a good lake for a smaller boat.
Helm's Landing is a good spot down river to try in a yak. Anything over 5,000 would be tough. You can always paddle over to the other side of the current and fish pretty easy at the dam.
Where can I find a list of pond hopper tournaments in KY?
You may want to look into the Alabama Flash mob rig. Suppose to be a lot better than the original rig. Its a little smaller with willow or Colorado blades. I'd go with nothing less than 30lb braid.
I usually look at TVA.org for the 24 hr forecast. Thanks for sharing the website this will definitely help on my trips to trout heaven of Kentucky.
So this would be 21,000 all weekend long correct?
Does the clown color work good for walleye and sauger by the dam? Do you recommend a sinking or floating style?
How did you see the 5 day forecast on this page? I couldn't understand what your seeing.
Does anyone know what the water level should be to take a jon boat from Winfrey's Ferry to Helm's Landing without worrying about tearing up a prop?
I'm thinking of heading down there this weekend...
Greenup Dam on the Ohio River... Sauger capital of KY!
If you want to know anything about the Ohio river go here: They talk about Greenup and Meldahl all day long.
Ohio River Fishing Reports - Ohio Game Fishing Community
Should be piling up soon.
Google Silver Buddy... That is a blade bait.. I went up to Greenup locks and dam a month ago and caught around 50 sauger on blade baits.
Any sauger being caught at Markland dam or Falls of the Ohio?
I was talking about the trout fishing at Helm's. With no generation, yes it is shallow at the ramp but down past the ramp it gets deeper. I usually fish out of a kayak or jon boat so its not a...
All I can say about Wolf creek is HELMS LANDING. There and on down the river is the best place to catch trout that I've experienced. Here is the link for the water level and generators.
...
I agree nothing beats Walleye as a fresh water fish.
Saltwater fish I'd have to go with Grouper!
Not true... They still taste good with the red strip.
And also if you need any more info on Kayaking or fishing from a yak head on over to Yakangler.com
You might want to look at these yaks: Jackson Coosa which is what I have. Its great for river and small lakes and streams. But not long paddling because it wavers a little. Jackson Cuda which is a...
I'm headed up that way in a couple weeks and wanted to know if anybody has caught them in the jumps or trolling? I heard good things about the hybrids at Fishtrap and wanted to get in to some.
Looks like there isn't a ramp there by the falls. I guess you can park at the Museum to fish right? I'll probably still park at Harrison ramp and paddle up to the Falls.
Where is the Intepretive Center located at? Im not to familiar with that stretch of water. Is there a ramp? The Harrison Ave is right by the lock that's why I suggested that ramp.
I was wanting to take my Coosa to McAlpine dam but wasn't familiar with that area. Is the Harrison Avenue boat ramp the best place to launch a yak? And is it safe to fish there in a yak? I was...
McAlpine Dam... That looks like a Hybrid not a white bass. Nice fish.. Is it safe for a yak around that dam?
There is parking down below the dam. You should be fine. Just stay off the road.
Off of Rt. 460 towards Frankfort. Its on the outside of Georgetown just past Great Crossing.
I went wading down there at the dam and below the dam a few weeks ago. I caught several largemouth and...
Just go try on a polarized pair of Oakleys vs a cheap pair. Oakleys are worth the money IMO.
There is a little bait shop right on that road down by the Don Cesar. Make sure you check out Hurricanes for some good seafood. Grouper is the best IMO.
Hey Mattador, what trail did you use to get down to Swift Camp Creek? I believe I was in Red River instead of SCC.
I think I'm going to head back down there this Friday again.
That part is the hardest to fish but the most rewarding. The catch tends to be bigger on that part. The worst of it is the portage over the dam at Jim Beam. I caught a nice 3lb smallmouth under that...
I was up there Friday at Indian Creek and Swift Camp Creek. I caught around 20 or so rainbows and hooked a nice brown trout at Swift Camp. I was using a spinning reel. I fished down past the bridge...
If you want to catch monster catfish. You want to try a skipjack for cut bait.
Sauger is about the best tasting fish along with walleye. Where was that at on Green river? Nice musky and hybrids.
