So if the lake wasn't up or anything like that and ever thing was "normal" about the lake then this is what I think happened. Sediment over time while decaying will build up large amounts of gas...

Thats where me and my papaw broke his 115 in at. We ran up and down to and from the dam. Its probably thrown out of its banks by 20 foot though.

Never heard of it cutting groves into the eyes of your poles but if you feel like this may be and issue check out power pro super 8 slick they say it's smoother than regular braid.
