Though some disagreed with the park's efforts to eradicate shad, Mike was...
Try putting a few gallons of water in the bilge. If that improves it, your transducer needs to be re-glued.
Batteries are batteries for the most part. With proper care and charging, you will get about the same life out of any battery of the same technology.
The difference between the portable chargers...
Looks like the water may stop rising at about 4ft over summer pool by Friday. Don't know how fast they are going to let it out when they do though. They'll have about 9ft of water to get rid of and...

Lyndon Wicker is a good guy.
The Hotmaps Platinum is nice. What lakes do you fish? It can make a difference as to what is the best deal. I personally don't put a map chip in the bow unit, only the console unit.
There was an article in the local paper tonight that West Boggs is going to be drawn down 3ft below normal pool for shoreline reconstruction work through October and November of this year. Ramp may...
You might consider a 2-speed manual winch. They are used more in salt water due to larger trailered boat size, but they can be set to the lower gear that makes cranking a heavy boat much easier.
Schumacher markets a line called Ship and Shore for boat use and line called Speed Charge for general use. These are pretty good chargers. I think Walmart handles part of the Speed Charge line.
Try Energy Lake in LBL.
Not true. Lead-Acid batteries do not have memory and allowing them to remain in an even slightly discharged state is about the worst thing you can do to them. Charge them as soon as possible...
Through the hull. Better performance at speed, less likely to get knocked off and no holes in the transom
In order to charge a single battery, you'd need an output from the panel of more than 50 Watts, which would give you about 3-4A. That's about a 2X2 piece of glass you have to deal with in your boat....
If it's your first time on Barkley in the spring, get a map. Subtract 5 ft from the depths on the map and you'll see that there are some really shallow spots in the middle of the lake, so be...
Patoka if you put in at South Lick Fork ramp. Slow speed limits will keep the wakes down.
Sometimes you need one person to stay forward until the boat gets on plane. Your boat may need a slightly smaller prop to get into the proper RPM range when you have the heavier load.
Late April will be post spawn for the crappie, so the fish will be more scattered, or at least starting that way. I'd recommend 1/16th oz twister tail jigs or tubes (or both) in a variety of colors...
That's what I do up to 4 or 5 pounds. Over that and I go with the gills.
Kentucky and Barkley are up about 2.5 feet in the last 24 hours.
Resolution. The 135 is a 480X480 unit, where the X96 is only 320X320.
Here's an excellent report from a few years back that details the reduction in population and size in bluegill after the shad introduction in 94.
...
I'd suspect their spawning requirements are similar to Northern Pike. Patoka didn't provide good spawning success for the pike.
Weren't walleye stocked in the lake shortly after it filled?
Patoka isn't different. Other lakes with shad populations have similar fisheries. Patoka is an excellent bass and crappie lake, but any lake with shad isn't going to produce bluegill like Patoka...
Apparently by fishermen. The stripers were added to help with the shad. Crappie eat shad, so you will see bigger crappie with more forage for them.
If you are anywhere close to Patoka, Andry's Fish Farm in Birdseye can probably help.
I wouldn't count on most boats floating when full of water. The outboard is just too heavy, and a jackplate makes it worse. I've seen 4 of at least a couple different brands with the bow tied to...
I keep each of my anchors in a small (2 or 3 gallon) plastic bucket. This not only keeps the boat clean and keeps the lines from tangling, it gives me two bailing buckets that are always in the...
Patoka.

Patoka is a great lake for bass, stripers and crappie now. Bass size has improved. Stripers are good, as are crappie, but there is some concern that bass might suffer from low reproduction due to...
The shad that were introduced compete with them for the same food. It's pretty well ruined the 'gill fishing there.
I can see a 1/16 oz crappie jig clearly 25ft down on mine. Good unit for the money.
If your batteries are wired for 12V, the single bank will keep them both charged. It may not be as quick as two banks, but keeping your starting battery charged is important between trips.
Check for missing fittings on you drains and fill ports on the hull. Sometimes they get knocked off. Also check your rub rail and see if water is hitting it while you are running.
I believe in the past that they waited until the likelihood of really cold weather has passed.
You'll have to replace them every year or so if you let the charge drop like that. They should always be at 100% charge unless you are on the lake. As little as 30 days without charging can result...
Most Walmarts, even here which is 4 hours north of the lakes, carry Fishing Hot Spots maps of both lakes.
I just stick the whole thing in the water and then give it a good shake when you pull it out. The water will loosen or melt the ice.
If you are talking about major rework, I'd forget hiring it done. There is really no good way to restore the gel on large areas of the boat. It would be cheaper to buy a different boat. Patching...
Good info. The part about not sweating before you get on the lake is important. A ride in a warm vehicle, then you hustle around trying to get the boat loaded and launch, then a long walk from the...
Not sure, but I believe they use the same prop.
Cravens Bay is decent. If you are looking for showers or electricity, you'll have to stay at one of the bigger ones. Any of the LBL campgrounds are handy, but there is more camping on the Kentucky...
My Plano (I think) minnow bucket came with a styrofoam insert (that's why I bought it), and it really helps keep the minnows lively. We were leaving KY last spring and I offered our leftover minnows...
Thanks fishNnut and Moose. I hate getting into a bad traffic situation with the boat behind me. Some places just don't consider that when they lay out the lot.
Moose,
Is it in the same center as the hobby store, or is it where the Burlington Coat Factory store was? That center off the Lloyd wouldn't be bad to get in and out of with a boat, but the one...
Comparing Gander Mountain to D**k's is way off. Gander isn't as big as Bass Pro or Cabela's, but it will have 10-20 times the fishing area as D**k's. There are two in Indy, one in Terre Haute, and I...
Lowrance 520C with a Navionics map chip.
The external can be shared on Lowrance units, giving you two GPS for the price of a GPS and a sonar.
The gates have been closed a while, and we've had pretty good rains recently.
It'll depend a lot on water temp. The lake will still be at winter pool then. I'd be thinking main lake and secondary points with jerkbaits for bass.
