Anyone been down lately? Going tomorrow after work. How deep is the thermocline? I don't really have the technology on my boat to see it. Appreciate it.

That's a really useful link. Thanks a ton!
Packed with shad on top near Chowning.
Stupid question but learning, if it's packed with shad on top is it a good thing or bad. My way of thinking would be bad.
I wonder myself. Fish were in those shad, but not all that excited to hit my spook- although I did have two blasts. I am of the belief that the fish feed on the shad and "should" be a little easier to target on top as compared to being unseen (by me) at 25-30 over a channel.
It's hard to catch hybrids or big cats on artificial baits right now, there's just too much live bait around. Good news is you can catch some really nice, big shad pretty easily if you have a cast net. Then just troll some downlines about 20' deep and you'll be pulling in 30# cats in no time.
Very optimistic . . . the 15 cat limit is too little too late. While there are still nice blues to be had their initial stockings have been negatively impacted by the 'fill the boat' attitude that prevailed until recently. It's hard to catch hybrids or big cats on artificial baits right now, there's just too much live bait around.
