I didn't know it was that much............I don't mind paying it.
I only wish the money didn't go to the "general fund" and would ACTUALLY be spent on fishing related stuff.
Specifically in Indiana. I'd love to see the income generated go towards beefing up the fishing opportunities. I don't think it is.......I have no specific numbers to back that up, but I suspect not even half goes back toward fishing specific areas.
States like KY and TN are so far ahead of Indiana with that respect.
Here is a link I found about indiana:

The Pittman-Robertson Wildlife Restoration Program apportionment for 2013 totals $522.5 million. The Dingell-Johnson Sport Fish Restoration Program apportionment for 2013 totals $359.9 million. As a result of the statutorily required sequester, these apportionments have been reduced by 5.1 percent, or approximately $39.2 million. Additional Wildlife and Sport Fish Restoration grant funding to the states has also been reduced, for a total sequestration-related reduction of approximately $44 million.

Did anyone see fishing tackle prices reduced by 5.1%.............ANYONE......
I wonder, because it seems that the revenue stream generated by fishing tackle is EARMARKED for conservation related projects, yet the IDIOTS in Washington made cuts across the board with regards to funding that has nothing to do with the general fund.
I'd love to see a spending amendment that FORCES earmarked taxes to be spend on those EARMARKED projects.
Motor Fuel Tax: Pay for roads
SSI Tax: Pay for social Security

I owned my own business for many years before retiring so I understand how businesses need to properly mark up their products in order to reach their desired gross profit margins. My point was that I wasn't aware that the manufacturers were even charged this tax. I am under no delusion that it wouldn't reflect in the price paid by the end user.
