trout carcasses at Helms Landing

Well, someone had a good day yesterday on the Cumberland. Found many gutted trout lying in the water just below the boat ramp when I got back there at five o'clock. Most likely, this made the raccoons happy last night. But isn't this a bit like leaving your trash behind at a campsite and figuring nature will just clean up the mess?

I confess I've left a couple hundreds pounds of bluegill innards in the water near cleaning stations in my lifetime. I'm trying to figure out what harm it can cause, but I'm not a biologist...???
