first trip to barren

Heading to barren this fri and sat with a few friends. Hoping to fish for crappie and bass. Any info on water temps? The water level is at winter pool I would assume. Any tips or advice for a newbie at this lake?

Fished yesterday, Wed., and caught a lot of fish. Had 8 keeper bass, one over 5lbs., and 2 over 4lbs. Caught everythung in the backs of creeks, 3-4ft. of water. We were the only ones ,we saw, throwing rattle traps in shallow water, but it worked for us. Had somewhere around 20 fish, total fort he day. Fish were all caught next to wood. It's not down to winter pool yet, but it's pretty close.

Been catching numbers of decent fish on main lake bluff walls too - sounds like they are biting all over the place.

I agree with both of these posters as I have caught them this week on both of those patterns - not a rattletrap but a bomber cb.

Crappie are on bluffs around 10-14 feet deep. I have caught them 3 times in the last 7 days and they have gotten a little deeper for me each trip.
