Indiana late goose hunting
There are two late goose hunts available in Indiana: a late Canada goose zone season from Feb. 1 – 15 in 30 counties, and a light goose conservation order from Feb. 1 – March 31 statewide (except the late Canada goose zone, which is open for light geese, Feb. 16 – March 31). More information
I'm not sure what to think about this late goose hunting season. Does this mean we stil can't fish at Bluegrass if they are out on the water hunting geese until March 31st? That would not be good IMHO. March is prime crappie fishing season.
OK I called up to IDNR Sugar Ridge HQ and Susan said that fishing resumes on Bluegrass's Pits on Jan 20th.
So if you have an ice auger go for it. Just make sure that the ice is at least 6" thick and there are not any thin spots where you plan to ice fish. Watch out for thin spots near moving water areas.
